Ashoka Rural Innovation and Farming

Ashoka Rural Innovation and Farming Agriculture and farming have historically dominated rural India and Sub-Saharan Africa, and continues to do so. However, rural communities that rely on agriculture are facing increasingly complex challenges due to poor infrastructure, lack of access to market, inadequate human capital, unsustainable use of natural resources, among others.

Ashoka’s “theory of change” is based on two principles:
1) social and economic innovation led by entrepreneurs will change existing systems that are barriers to equitable development;

2) increasing collaboration and shared knowledge among entrepreneurs and other “changemakers” over time will stimulate an even greater impact. In the last 30 years, Ashoka has supported almost 100 social entreprene
