So umm Amethyst when were you going to tell me you had a BEAUTIFUL mammary?! I am shocked. If only she wasn’t so dang flighty. This is about 12-14 hours and her first fill ever. Daughter of Orion and Obsidian. She was not a fan of being milked but I’m sure with time, patience and love she’ll come around, I managed to save around 4 cups before she decided it was enough. 🫠 She’s a first freshener feeding triplets.. Excited to see her mature more as she’s still got a fair amount of edema.

🚨Friends I need your help! 🚨

It’s probably not wise or probable but if you were to last minute go to a goat show next weekend which 2 of the 3 yr olds would you bring and why? PS. They were not very cooperative so they do look nicer when they want to be, dang Ornery Nigerians 😒🙄
*I’ll likely do a separate post with my Yearlings.*

Ignore my sloppy handwriting but this is how many cups my current milk string gives me. Mind you most of these ladies are at least 8 weeks into lactation, based on 12ish hour fills, and are only getting milked once a day in the morning.

Vienna: 3yr 2F 8.5wks fresh on 12hours = 3Cups

Clover: 2yr 2F 8wks fresh on 12hours = 2 2/3 Cups(She was producing 4 cups but then she had a mild bout of something that caused her to significantly drop production, but she’s regaining now and is doing fantastic!)

Are you truly a farm kid if you haven’t taken a nap during chores and snuck a sip or two or fresh fresh milk? 😂🤪❤️

Our little life and farm we have, would not have been possible without those who gave all for our freedom. Thank you to all those who have served, are serving currently, are planning to serve, and died serving. May you have taken today to appreciate, remember, and honor why we celebrate Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

For those who saw the story and are wondering what that was all about, Our last doe of the year has kidded, with a single Buckling. Momma and baby are healthy and doing very well considering he was born 6 days early. Bug was due 5/27/26 yet last night I noticed ligaments are practically gone and her udder is tighter than it was. So after a few minutes of musical stalls, she was put in a stall. This morning as I was finishing milking; around 8:25, she quietly unassisted delivered a perfectly positioned Silver Buckskin Buckling, while I was hoping for no 🥜 I’m very grateful this little boy is as vigorous and strong as he is being a premie. Bug is a very attentive and protective momma but not so convinced at letting her baby nurse, but give credit where it’s due, she’s young and her first time and is being a great mom! He will be available as a wether sometime in July after weaning.

Well, at least we don’t have to worry about our farm critters being well socialized around people especially kids! ❤️

Amethyst had her babies yesterday! As I suspected she had triplets sired by Mycroft, however not the ratio I ordered🙃😅 But I really can’t complain because she’s been such a fantastic mom and her 2bucks and 1 doe are perfect and healthy! Once the first kid was out the next two rocketed out and she was done within half an hour max🤯 At first she had no idea what just happened but quickly took to mothering! And her prefresh udder 😅 *chefs kiss* I can’t wait for her first overnight fill! All of her kids are available; her bucklings will be wethered.
