Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a very loose reference to the most OG of Vampire Lords?

Our newest DDH IPA is here! And it’s a mouthful! And a tongue twister! “Mos-Tra-Nel-Sim” is an ode to the classic hops that kick-started our love for Hazy IPA: Mosaic, Citra, Nelson Sauvin, and Simcoe. This is actually a really amped up version of an IPA I’ve been making for over a decade (omg, I’m old), and I’m genuinely really excited to bring this BACK to life for y’all. Get the reference? Cuz like, these hops never die and just continue to haunt us for years? And cuz Nosferatu is cool? Right? Whatever…I made the b**r so I get to make the rules.

Mashed with Cumberland Pils and Czech Pils for an extra-pale base, then layered up with the fluffy combo of Appalachian Wheat, Chit Malt, and Flaked Oats. We even boiled it for extra time just to get some Kettle Caramelization and mimic the orange hue of Hazy IPAs from years past without the need for Crystal Malt. We hit it in the Whirlpool with Nelson Sauvin AND Simcoe Cryo, on top of a Hot Dip in the FV with Citra Incognito. Fermented with our House Hazy IPA yeast, dry-hopped first with a very large charge of even more Simcoe, spunded for 100% natural carbonation, and then double-dry-hopped with a haunting amount of Nelson Sauvin Amplifire Pellets, more Nelson Sauvin, and a very heavy dose of Mosaic Liquid Lupulin.

Going back into my oldest brew logs from the beginning of my career and bringing out old hop bills was super nostalgic for me, and I really hope you enjoy this one as much as we do. Plus, it’s just fun to let yourself dive back in time and reminisce about just how far Hazy IPA has come.

A super fluffy body, an experience akin to opening a fresh jug of Sunny D, a glass of Sauv Blanc with some frozen Blueberry floaters, Orange and Pink Starburst at the same time, that first Peach of the season, a teensy kiss of resinous goodness, and just an overwhelming waft of that first wave of new school Hop “Citrus-meets-Stonefruit Hoppy character”. Damn. This is so good you’ll wanna suck IT’S blood versus the other way around!

“Hey Hey Yah Yah” Festbier, brewed just in time for SHREKTOBERFEST. Mashed with a 100% Riverbend Malt grist, composed of a blend of Chesapeake Pilsner, Light Munich, Vienna, and Chit Malt. Hopped aggressively with Hallertauer Mittelfruh, fermented low and slow with our House L***r yeast, spunded for natural carbonation, and laid down to L***r in our Horizontal Tanks for many-a-moon.

AND DON’T FORGET, THE SWAMP IS CALLING!! DANG RIGHT, DONKEY! SHREKTOBERFEST IS BACKKKKK!!!! Once again, it’s a tale of two swamps: ASHEVILLE & DURHAM!! Mark yer calendars for September 26th for BOTH AVL and DRM! SAME DATE, TWO DIFFERENT CITIES! Get yer ogre-sized self ready for a day of Shrek-filled fun! PICK UP THE PHONE! “Call of the Rattlesnake” is…umm…calling? It’s also a new Gluten-Free Fruited Sour, crafted in collaboration with our fellow flavor-buds Corporate Ladder Brewing, as well as The Rattlesnake Conservancy. The Corporate Ladder crew is opening up a new taproom in Raleigh and got held up with some VERY unfortunate structural updates to the building after the first release, so we figured we’d get two birds stoned at once and brew this baby up again!

This little bevvy was conditioned on a landslide of Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Lime, and of course…Sour Gummy Snakes. Sweet and sour at the same time, we wanted to make something that comes off aggressive, but in actuality is super approachable. Similar to snakes! But obviously not the venomous kind. Don’t try to make friends with those, please.

Let the waves of sweet fruit wash over you, and then be cleansed by the tart bite of the Sour Gummy Snakes. Like a fruit salad and a bag of candy at the same time, more or less! Super refreshing, super well-rounded, and VERY bright. Candy, meet fruit!

Hark! A new TDH DIPA is here! “Cosmic Bouquet” is an exercise in highlighting a new-to-us Hop, Celeste, by pairing it with hops that would complement its oil composition as best we could. Very thankful to The HOPGUILD for the hop suggestion! We tried really hard to build a base foundation of hops that would really elevate Celeste as best we could!

This TDH Hazy DIPA is packed to the gills with more Hops than you can shake a cosmic bird’s feathers at. Mashed with Riverbend Malt House Cumberland Pils, then fluffed up to the heavens with Riverbend Oat Malt, Appalachian Wheat, and Flaked Oats. We hit it in the Whirlpool with Strata, and El Dorado Lupomax, then threw it on top of a Hot Dip in the FV with El Dorado Incognito. Fermented with our House Hazy IPA yeast, dry-hopped first with a very large charge of Celeste, spunded for 100% natural carbonation, and then double-dry-hopped with an obnoxious volume of more Celeste and more El Dorado Lupomax, THEN triple-dry-hopped with a very heavy dose of Citra Liquid Lupulin in the Brite for good measure.

An exceedingly fluffy body, it’s giving White Gummy bears and Bosch Pears floating in a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, some nice wedges of Bittermelon, Passionfruit smoothies in a bed of Pine Needles, some uber-dank and resinous sticky-icky without that “DAMN THAT’S SOME GAS” stank to it, very specifically Watermelon Jolly Ranchers if they were also definitely edibles, and an exceedingly pleasant balance of bitterness and fruity-sweetness that we’ve truly been striving for with these Hoppy Ales lately. Celeste is a certified banger of a Hop, no doubt about it. BIG BIG UPS to The HOPGUILD for the hookup with Celeste hops!

OOOOO WEEEEEE!!!! SCOOP ME BABY, ONE MORE TIME!!!

“Mango Sticky Riot” is a Smoothie-Style GF Sour, modeled after Mango Sticky Rice, and whipped up in collaboration with our Michigan brethren, H◉MES BREWERY. Those crazy Northerners know a thing or two about Fruited Sours. With all their fruit acumen, we really wanted to push ourselves outside our comfort zone, and the results are seriously whacked out in the best way possible. The response was an INSANE smash-hit on the first batch, so we changed nothing and scaled it up so we (hopefully) don’t sell out so fast this time!

We did something inconceivable with this one, and we actually made hundreds of pounds of Sticky Rice with Coconut Milk. We then conditioned the GF Sour base on that homemade Sticky Rice, tons and tons of thick and pulpy Mango, Brown Sugar, and Coconut Cream. This is so on-the-nose, it’s laughable. This just tastes exactly like a fat scoop of Coconut-laden Sticky Rice with some fresh Mango wedges on top. Fruity, starchy, sour, tropical, thick, and delicious. Bingo, bango, bongo, y’all.

Big big BIG thanks to our friends from the North who hit us up to bring forth this wild and wacky Fruited Sour concoction. Miss you all already.
