Indian corn. When I was a kid, we used to grow Indian corn (now called glass or flint corn) as it was more prevalent in the south then, compared to now. Cultivated by Native American/Indigenous tribes, we ate it and used the leftover seed as decoration in the fall. I remember my parents storing it in the kitchen until it was time to plant it again the following year.

After reminiscing over memories, we've decided to start growing it again. ☺️ Let's see what this year's experimental crop yields. πŸ₯°

We haven't had grapevines since I was a teenager. A few years ago, we decided to start them up again. From a new vine, it takes 2-3yrs to bear fruit. This is the first year of fruit. It's gonna be a great one!!

This space that I created to honor my family, showcase Black Farmers, Women Farmers, and life as a 5th generation grower is a space of love, kindness, and grace. I do not tolerate negativity or meanness of any kind. Violate this space of safety, and you will be removed.

Safety for others requires allowing curiosity, learning, the ability to ask questions without judgement, shaming, or projecting your pain onto others. My family has taught me a wealth of knowledge that I want to share. Please don't ruin the experience for others or myself.

Signed,

Management

I'm thankful for community. For my ancestors. For good people. But most of all, I'm thankful for great experiences.

Sometimes family is made up of people you know by blood relation but sometimes family is what you make it, put together from people who feel good to your soul, and that's ok too. 😊
