Desta Ethiopian restaurant

Desta Ethiopian kitchen

On 8/26/17 Amanda experienced her first ethiopian restaurant. I myself have had it a few times before.
We visited Desta Ethiopian kitchen in Atlanta and throughly enjoyed ourselves. We met friends there around 7pm and the placed was packed.
We waited about 45 minutes. But it was more then worth the wait.

Atmosphere-
The restaurant was nice but compact. The tables were very close together which made for a little bit of awkward elbow bumping. They have a semi opened kitchen, so if
you were to sit at the bar you could watch the food being perpared.
The patio is a bit more spacious with a picnic style table. We liked the atmosphere of the patio a little better, and next time we will be requesting to sit out there.
The parking was limited.

Staff-
To start the hostess was very nice, and thankful that we were willing to wait. They use an app to not only alert you via text
when your table is ready, but also shows how many patron are ahead of you. Which we found very convienient. Our waitress was great and answered all the newbie questions we had.
She made a few great suggestions. She also made sure that our paletes were ready for the different textures, and flavors. The only complaint was the girl in training,
she continuely leaned on occupied tables while talking to other patrons.

Food-
The food was awesome! We ordered 2 different types of Samboosa a beef and a red lentil, both with a sweet chili dipping sauce. The beef samboosa was really good, BUT the
lentil samboosa was amazing! (Probably, in the top 5 of the best foods, I have ever eaten!) We could have eaten a dump truck full.
For our main course, we did meat lovers which is a pick three. We did ribeye, chicken, & shrimp.
The ribeye was very tender and went well with the onions it was served with. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and had a nice flavor. The chicken was the most enjoyable,
and had the most flavor.
We also ordered, the Kitfo which is beef chopped with spices. You can have it cooked from well done, to the way We ordered ours, raw.
It was luke warm dish, with great seasoning and a bit of spice. Gomen was our side dish. It is basically seasoned and delicious turinup green.
We also ordered lamb Fir Fir which is meat, veggies, and injera soaked in spices and cheyenne pepper. The texture of the Injera is a bit soggy, but that didn't take away from
the taste . In case you are wondering, Injera is the authentic bread they serve with all the dishes, its kinda the utensil for getting food to your mouth.
Injera has a sour taste,it has a spongy texture, and it has a greyish color. Even with that discription, it is very yummy, and goes well with the dishes.

Overall-
Great restaurant with great food. We loved all the dishes and there is nothing that we would change. We can't wait to try more dishes on the menu.
We are looking forward to our next visit because yes we will be returning!

Myself (Josh) and the wife (Amanda) visited the Ice martini bar in downtown Woodstock Ga on 8/12/17.
Ice is a martini bar hence the name, they also serve sushi and tapas plates.

Atmosphere-
It was a pretty place with good decor. It has a romantic vibe which would be good for a date night or casual gathering.

Staff-
The staff was attentive. However our waitress showed a little to much skin, which made it akward as she leaned on a chair to chat with us.

Drinks-
They have a decent martini menu maybe around 20 different drinks. I would have expected more being a martini bar. The theme of the menu was sweet. All the martinis minus 2 or 3 were sweet, very sweet.
I had a sweet blue drink and asked for no sugar on the rim which is how it was listed on the menu. It was sweet, but I think the sugar rim would have been to much.
My wife had a Dirty Blue martini which is a regular dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. It was decent but I don't believe they use vermouth because there was no dryness to the drink. That might be a personal preference.

Food-
We decided to stick with tapas plates because we weren't feeling sushi.
First- We has the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers with cranberry cream cheese. I know this sounds crazy but there was two much bacon! They wrapped a full strip of bacon around half a jalapeno, which ended with raw bacon in the center. Plus, you couldn't taste the pepper or stuffing in anyway.
Second- we had the steak sliders with grilled onions on an hawaiian roll. The steak was very sweet which mixed with red onions on the hawaiian roll made for a overly sweet almost dessert like meal. It also had a weird salad on the plate which didn't enhance the meal in anyway.
Third- We had the truffel mac and cheese. It was a nice looking plate. The first couple bites were good, then the garlic kicked in and it became very over powering. The noodles were also overcooked which made it very mushy.
Fourth- I had a bowl of Miso soup which was very good, but lets be honest how hard is it to make miso soup lol.

Overall-
The plates were pretty, but semi unenjoyable. The drinks were limited and far to sweet. The restuarant was nice but nothing overly memoriable.
Would we return?
No. Nothing was enjoyable enough to bring us back.
