Lemon Cream Cheese Dump Cake
Ingredients
Base Layer
1 (21 oz) can lemon pie filling
(use 2 cans if you want it extra gooey like in the image)
Cream Cheese Layer
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon zest
2 tbsp sour cream
Topping
1 box lemon cake mix
1/2 cup butter, melted
Instructions
1. Prepare the Baking Dish
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray. This step helps prevent sticking and makes serving much easier later.
2. Add the Lemon Base
Pour the lemon pie filling into the baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom. Make sure it reaches all corners so every bite has that bright lemon flavor.Baked Goods
If you want a richer, more dramatic gooey layer (like the image), go ahead and use two cans instead of one.
3. Make the Cream Cheese Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine:
softened cream cheese
powdered sugar
vanilla extract
lemon zest
sour cream
Beat everything together until the mixture is smooth, creamy, and fluffy. Take your time here—this step ensures you don’t end up with lumps.
4. Layer the Cream Cheese
Using a spoon, drop small dollops of the cream cheese mixture over the lemon layer.
Do not spread it out completely. This is important. Keeping it in spoonfuls creates those soft, creamy pockets you see in the final dessert.Dairy & Eggs
5. Add the Cake Mix
Sprinkle the dry lemon cake mix evenly over the entire dish. Try to cover all areas without pressing it down.

6. Drizzle the Butter
Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix. Aim to cover as much of the surface as possible.
It’s okay if a few dry spots remain, but most of the mix should be lightly moistened to create that crumbly topping.
7. Bake
Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40–45 minutes.
