During a recent podcast interview, I shared the idea at the heart of this book.

Food is the excuse, but connection is the point.

The meal may be what brings us to the table, but being present with our people, our families, friends and communities, is why we gather in the first place.

In a world that can feel increasingly disconnected, we need more reasons to come together.

For me, food will always be one of them.

A night at Jordan and Minda’s called for one of Minda’s favorites from the cookbook, Chicken Karaage.

A chill family dinner with good friends, the kids hanging out, and a little help in the kitchen from the next generation.

Nothing formal, nothing overplanned. Just everyone together, cooking, eating, talking, and going back for another piece of karaage.

Safe to say, there weren’t many leftovers.

Still coming down from Saturday night.

One of my best friends, Cason Vaughan said it best..”we lived my book that night”. Connection, community, being together, getting back to what life is all about.

The launch party at ABGB was everything I wanted and even more. The room was full of love, happiness, and smiling faces. I was surrounded by all of my people: my friends, my family, and the people in the book. I was humbled to see so many people supporting me, but also building this community that we all share.

But what I loved even more was watching everyone connect with each other.

I appreciate the support. I appreciate the fun we had. And I appreciate how interactive the whole night was. There’s no other way I would have loved to celebrate this book launch than with all of you, the company I keep.

A special shout out to Carl for emceeing the night, to The Somebodies and Mozworth for the music, and to ABGB for having us. And thank you to everyone who bought the book that night, and to everyone who’s bought it, period.

I’m not Josh Epstein without my people.
