Balanced Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients
1 cup of blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1-2 cups of unsweetened coconut milk (If you choose to skip the protein powder, we recommend using soy milk for added protein)
1⁄2 banana
2 tablespoons of peanut butter
2 cups of spinach
1 teaspoon of chia seeds

Instructions
Add everything to a blender and press go! Start with 1 cup of coconut or soy milk and add more as needed (depending on the blender, you may need the additional liquid for it to blend smoothly).
Recipe Tip
*Note that nutrition facts are based on using 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk, 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and 1 scoop (half a serving) of pea protein powder.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups apple juice
1 1/2 bananas
1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
3/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
fresh fruit and mint sprigs for garnish optional
INSTRUCTIONS
Place the apple juice, bananas, frozen strawberries and vanilla Greek yogurt in a blender.
Blend until completely smooth.
Pour into 2 glasses and serve, garnished with fruit and mint sprigs if desired.

BANANA CHERRY SMOOTHIE

Ingredients
▢½ Cup Milk
▢1 Cup Frozen Pitted Cherries
▢1 Large Banana
▢¼ Cup Yogurt
▢1 Teaspoon Almond Extract, Optional

Instructions
Place the milk, frozen cherries, banana, yogurt, and almond extract into a blender.
Place the lid on the blender. Pulse and blend the ingredients for 1-2 minutes, until smooth. Serve immediately.
Notes
NOTE: Any kind of milk and/or yogurt will work for this recipe.
NOTE: Cooking time listed is blending time.

Ingredient
1 banana
236g of mixed frozen berries
1 large apple, cored and peeled
1 lemon juice
4 inches of cucumber
15g of flat leaf parsley
67g of kale
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
1 cup of almond milk

PREPARATION METHOD
Using a blender, add all the ingredientsand blend for 1-2 minutes until there is no longer any lumps in the mixture. If you are finding that the mixture is still lumpy, try adding extra water to smoothen your smoothie.

Blueberry-Ginger Smoothie

Ingredients
1 smoothie
½ cup coconut milk yogurt

1 cup frozen blueberries

1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger

Pinch of cinnamon

⅓ cup coconut milk

1 tablespoon honey or agave

¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Direction
In a blender, puree all ingredients until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add additional coconut milk until the desired texture is achieved.

Cardamom Avocado & Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients
½ avocado
1 frozen banana
1 cup (240 mL) unsweetened oat milk*
½ cup (120 mL) unsweetened soy yogurt*
1 cup (150 g) frozen blueberries**
½ cup (75 g) frozen pineapple chunks
2 cardamom pods, seeds only (optional)
½ tsp pure vanilla extract
⅛ tsp ground cinnamon

Directions
Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
Pour the smoothie in tall glasses and top with desired garnish. Enjoy!

Notes
* Nutrition tip: aim to use plant-based yogurt and milk that are fortified with calcium.
** We used frozen wild blueberries, which we've found gives a more vibrant purple colour once blended.
Storage
Smoothies are best enjoyed immediately.

2 cups loosely packed baby spinach

Ingredients
1 cup chilled Seattle's Best brewed coffee
1 1/2 bananas cut into chunks
1 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
2 teaspoons honey or agave nectar

Strawberry Blueberry Smoothie

Ingredients
10 (1 cup) strawberries
½ cups blueberries
½ cups milk
½ cups plain yogurt
1 tsp vanilla bean
1 Tbsp honey

Instructions
In a blender add the strawberries, blueberries, milk, vanilla yogurt and the honey.
Blitz until well combined.
Serve & Enjoy

Recipe Tips
You can use regular or low fat yogurt, depending on what you prefer. There is very little difference regarding texture, but you should keep in mind that some low-fat varieties have a lot of sugar in them.
I find the yogurt and fruit has enough sweetness in them that the honey can be left out of the smoothie. However, if you love things to be a bit sweeter than I recommended keeping it in.
Honey can be replaced with other sweeteners such as maple syrup, white sugar, and brown sugar. Keep in mind that almost every type of sugar has a different taste to it.
As with any smoothie, if you’re able to get some cheap fresh fruit then use this over frozen as I find fresh fruit works better. However, frozen will come out to be just as good if you’re unable to source cheap fruit.
A neat little trick you can do if you find yourself having this smoothie a lot is to weigh the berries ahead of time and store them in serving size packs in the freezer. This way, you only need to grab one pack per serving you need.
