Thanks to guest winemakers of and of for providing so much context for the challenges Texans face growing and making Tempranillo.

A total of 5 countries and 10 distinct regions.
It's not a class anyone should've skipped.

Thanks to Winemakers Cooper Anderson of The Austin Winery and Mike Batek of Hye Meadow Winery for coming to expand of the topic.

We had a fantastic line up of around 20 Tempranillo wines, made with Tempranillo Blanco and Tinto - in several winemaking fashion from carbonic, rosé, gran reserva and dessert wines.
Cannot wait to bring more students and guest winemakers to share their craft and stories at Somm Space

It is sad news to share on this overcast winter day that we've come to learn the transition of veteran winemaker Rick Naber of Flat Creek Estate Winery and Vineyard.
Legendary industry icon that will be missed across many hearts - may you have ever lasting bountiful harvests henceforth.
Sincere condolences to the Flat Creek Estate family and Mrs. Naber.

We'll always have fond memories of harvesting Texas fruit alongside el patrón Rick. He was meticulous in inspecting the harvest bins for quality. Will be greatly missed.

That's a wrap!

Well....can't wrap your head around Pinot? You missed out on this great opportunity.

We closed 2025 with a phenomenal Class in a Glass of Pinot at our newest community partner and host venue where we project bringing a lot more unique and exclusive comparative regional, varietal, and production process focused Masterclasses.

Pinot was brought in collaboration with colleague friend Guild Sommelier WSET2 of - much gratitude for your time and passion.

We tasted over 15 wines, including some heritage producers and some modern avant-garde contemporary renditions.
Pinot from classic homelands like Bourgogne, Alsace, and the Mosel. Also from Romania, Bulgaria Czech Republic, and the Upper Galilee.
We moved onto Texas, New York, California and Oregon, New Zealand and Argentina.
To close, a pleasant surprise from Trentino.
The 1967 Riserva although deteriorated cork crumbled still had very pleasant and drinkable structure and character.

And again to of Somm Space for opening up this gorgeous beverage education conclave for enthusiasts and professionals alike.

We can't wait to share more amazing learning opportunities with y'all in 2026!

As deportations and ICE raids frighten Latino immigrant communities, the co-owner of Austin’s Vaquero Taquero is pushing back in a creative way. “Latino immigrants, whatever their status, are the backbone of the service industry,” says Miguel Cobos. So he wants lovers of Mexican food to put their money where their mouths are by participating in his “Estamos Unidos Americanos” Taco Passport project. 🌮

The idea is that a supporter can order a physical booklet and take it to participating Texas taquerias, where 10 percent of each purchase will go toward service industry–focused nonprofits advocating for undocumented immigrants and DACA recipients. Read more about the project, which is in the early phases of development, here: txmnth.ly/4h0tbxC?utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=Organic+Social&utm_campaign=SND
