For the first time in my baking career, I messed up. BIG time. I’ve had a super stressful week at my “real” job, and even though I had the correct number written down (in MULTIPLE places), for whatever reason I still baked a 40, when it was supposed to be a 50. HOW?! To make matters worse, I had to be to work an hour after the cake was picked up this morning, so making a new one seemed like an impossible task. I gave myself 5 minutes to go through a thousand emotions. Embarrassment, shock, helplessness, anger…and finally determination. I was making this right one way or another.
I somehow managed to PULL.IT.OFF. I’ve never baked a cake so fast in my life. Cake in the oven by 9:25am. Whipped up more frosting. Had extra toppings (thank goodness!) ready. Packed up a bag and brought it all to work with me. Left for work by 9:55am. Got the party at work set up in a crazy frenzy, and assembled and decorated the “5” all before 11am. A literal miracle. As stressful as it was, someone was on my side today.
So appreciative for my super understanding client (she’s also my doggy’s Mom when we go on vacation, aka the BEST place to board your puppers❤️)
Overall, it was a beautiful order! Vanilla cake with whipped cream frosting. White/pink/gold dipped strawberries, and lemon cupcakes with whipped cream frosting. 🧁
