As I sit on the porch of my clients home and listen to the birds sing and feel the warmth of the sun on my skin I can't help but feel a sense of jealousy and remorse.
Oh, how wonderful it would be to have so many acres of lush, rolling hills. Trees loaded with fruits and nuts. The smell of summer blossoms in the air.
I think back to my land. Dry, sandy, and loaded with acorn trees that do nothing but spit leaves all over my yard and brings more squirrels in than I can count.
Then, I stop myself.
God's blessings are not linear. He doesn't give everyone the same blessings because that is not His will. If He did give us the same blessings then we as selfish humans wouldn't look at it as blessings but as a right given from Him.
Sometimes God wants us to work for our blessings because trusting in Him and His will is how we make it there. Even if the desires of our heart aren't given to us, that does not mean that He isn't watching or listening. Maybe it just means those blessings that we want aren't the ones meant for us.
God is teaching me to be thankful in the blessings that He has provided for my family and I and to work in those conditions so that we may grow closer to Him and to what he has in store for us.
