Remember our post on June 8 about having SWEET CORN on our minds? Planting and mulching?
Well.
We have a little story about what happened to it.
A short story of the corn and the 🦆
I meant to post this earlier but kept forgetting... Anyway here it is
We were all excited about a big corn patch with lots to share!! Well, little did we know that a wild duck found our patch and if you know the nature of ducks, they like to walk down the row eating the delicious tender shoots.🌱
Where each plant should have been, there was a hole that only a duck bill can make.
The corn patch is no more😢
And what happened to the duck? She had built her nest a short distance from the patch. And had we not decided to cut the surrounding grass for winter feed we probably would have never found her. But we did cut hay. The farmer saw her and carefully cut around her nest. But later the rake wheel went exactly over her and all her eggs.....
At first we were sad but when we figured she was likely the queen culprit for all the missing corn... The sadness sort of left 🤭
