Late last night, Fiona welcomed a beautiful little baby girl to the farm, officially wrapping up our first calving season. Of course, she decided to keep things interesting by having her calf right next to the pond! 😳
Thankfully, by this morning, mama had her little one safely tucked under the trees beside a hay bale, happy, healthy, and enjoying a quiet morning on the farm.
Five healthy calves, five proud mamas, and countless lessons learned along the way. What started as excitement quickly turned into a season full of anticipation, sleepless nights, happy tears, and unforgettable memories.
We’re so grateful that every mom and baby made it through safely and can’t wait to watch these little ones grow.

🐄💕 And then there were five…

Late last night, Fiona decided it was finally her turn and welcomed a beautiful little baby girl to the farm! Of course, she chose a spot right next to the pond to have her calf—because apparently keeping us on our toes is part of the job description.

Needless to say, it made for a nerve-racking evening, but by this morning Fiona had her little girl safely bedded down under the trees next to a hay bale, content as can be.

With Fiona’s arrival, our first calving season is officially complete. Watching each of these moms bring healthy calves into the world has been equal parts exciting, stressful, rewarding, and unforgettable. We’re grateful that all of the mamas and babies are doing well and couldn’t be more proud of our growing herd.

Five healthy calves, five proud moms, and one very happy first-time cow-calf operation. ❤️

The Bakery Bunch has officially made their way to Frey Chick Farm, and we think it’s safe to say they’re loving their new digs!
These little fluff balls have been busy exploring, snacking, and settling into farm life. It’s hard to believe how quickly they’re growing. Before long, they’ll have all their beautiful adult feathers, and we’ll get to watch them doing what ducks do best—splashing, swimming, and making a mess in the pond.
For now, we’re enjoying every minute of the fuzzy duckling stage and all the entertainment they bring with them. Stay tuned for plenty more Bakery Bunch updates as they continue to grow!

The Bakery Bunch has officially made their way to Frey Chick Farm, and we think it’s safe to say they’re loving their new digs!

A cow is a female that has given birth to at least one calf. They are the “mothers” of the herd and have fully developed udders for producing milk.

A heifer is a young female that has never had a calf. Heifers are essentially the “daughters” or teenagers of the herd, typically lacking the pronounced hips of older cows.

A bull is a mature male used for breeding. Bulls are the fathers and are generally more muscular and aggressive than other cattle.

A steer is a male that was castrated (typically at a young age) . Because they are neutered, they do not develop the aggressive characteristics of a bull and are calmer.

A calf is a baby cow (male or female) that is under one year old.

Meet Bruno 🐐🐐

Bruno is our only male goat on the farm and resident bully. When he isn’t bossing around the pigs Bruno loves harassing the chickens. 🫯🫯

He’s a brute, but give him just an ounce of your attention and he’ll be your best friend! I wouldn’t recommend it though… he’s pretty smelly!! 😬💩

🐄 Well, the waiting game finally ended… for one of them!

It seems our lovely girl decided that if she was going to have her baby, it had to be on the hottest day of the year so far. Why make a simple entrance when you can make a grand appearance? ☀️🥵

Mom and baby are doing great, but her pasture buddy is now officially the last mama standing… and still no baby.

So what do you do when you’re the only pregnant cow left, it’s scorching outside, and everyone else has already had their calves?

Apparently, you go for a swim. 💦😂

While we were checking on the herd, we found our last mama cooling off in the water and honestly, who can blame her? At this point, she seems more interested in beating the heat than having a calf.

The countdown continues at Frey Chick Farm. Will she finally decide it’s time, or will she keep us guessing a little longer?

🐄 The waiting game continues at Frey Chick Farm!

While we’ve welcomed 3 healthy calves so far this season, we still have two mamas left on baby watch. At this point, they’re both powering around the pasture looking very uncomfortable, a little irritable, and more than ready to evict their tenants! 😆

You can tell they’re feeling every extra pound and counting down the days until these babies make their grand entrance. We’ve got our eyes on them daily, waiting for signs that it’s finally go-time.

Will one of them surprise us with twins like we suspected earlier this season? Only time will tell!

🐃 Another calf on the ground at Frey Chick Farm!

118, also known as “Spring” and Grandma's Girl," welcomed her baby boy this week. That brings us to 3 calves!

I was convinced Spring was carrying twins, but she proved me wrong. She's also turning out to be quite the protective mama, keeping a close eye on her little guy and making sure everyone knows he's hers.

We're loving watching this pair bond and are thankful for another healthy calf on the farm.
