Has anyone ever had pine shavings cause respiratory illness in quail? Linda the Quail has a swollen eye and noisy breathing. Thankfully, no other quail are showing symptoms.

The only thing that has changed recently about their coop is the addition of pine shavings. After some reading, I learned that the dust/aromatic oils can irritate their respiratory systems in more contained environments.

Whatever the cause, the quail now have grass clippings in their coop and Linda the Quail is in quarantine receiving antibiotic eye drops. Hopefully, she will make a full recovery. ❤️‍🩹
