In January we took a chance on raising pigs. The twins were 10 weeks old, it was in the middle of winter, and the beginning to the wild pig stories that we would have. These are 2 of the original 6 Crows Way Farm have raised. Rather pleased with how they turned out. Now they’re off to fill a freezer come Monday.

Yesterday Kentley helped build a Self-Service stand to sell some of her eggs out of. With time we might add some additional items to the stand. Might even add an occasional loaf of banana bread, homemade cookies, or cupcakes.

Also, don’t forget to ask how the pigs are doing if you’re in the market for fresh pork!

Yesterday was a first for us at Crows Way Farm. We’ve been on the pig journey since January. Yesterday we attended our first pig sale. We ran across the cutest little boar 3 weeks ago and decided we need him. Yesterday was the sale where we left with 3 additional ones to give little Fleetwood Mac some friends since he’s still too small for our other 6. Ellen’s Pigs had the cutest little piglets (still some available). You can tell she loves each of them and takes the time to learn so much about each liter. I think we hit a gold mine with ours. So welcome to Crows Way little Fleetwood, Missy Elliot, Cher, and Madonna! (Priscilla will eventually leave the others to join with these)

Productive day at Crows Way. New fence built for the pigs and the chickens taken care of.

Well that escalated quickly. Started this journey with the original 5 outlaws: Reba, Willie, Nelson, Merle, and Haggard. That quickly jumped to a total of roughly 50 chickens. No worries, we have down sized a little to 30.
Fast forward 4 years. We planned on 2 pigs, agreed on 4 on our way to get the 2, but left with 6. A month later we got 2 more, Elvis and Minnie. Elvis went bye, bye so then we decided on the newest member, Fleetwood Mac bringing us to a total of 8 pigs.
Remember pig math is not the same as chicken math!
