🌟 New Arrival! 🌟
This morning we welcomed our last foal of the season, a gorgeous blue roan filly out of our mare JT Mandy Hancock (“Mandy”) and sired by Dirks Blue Lexus (“Jackson”). With her soft roan coat and a sprinkle of white hairs on her forehead, this little lady is already stealing hearts. 💙 We’ll more than likely call her “Denim.”

Mandy continues to stamp her foals with the same level-headed, people-friendly nature she’s known for herself—horses that are easy to start, easy to handle, and always willing. Jackson adds bone and balance making this cross one we look forward to every single year.

Denim will be ready to go after being weaned in January!

☀️ Shed Season, Halter Volunteers, and a Huge Thank You! ☀️

The 2025 foals are shedding out fast and turning into little showpieces before our eyes, but their personalities might be stealing the spotlight. This is hands down the goofiest bunch we’ve ever had.

Every time we grab the halter, it’s like a full-blown competition of “pick me, pick me!” Foals are practically shoving each other to the front like it’s a Black Friday sale. 🤣 No chasing, no drama, just a lot of curious noses and wiggly bodies trying to walk right into the halter.

Everyone’s been haltered now, and to absolutely no surprise, not one of them cared. Honestly, it’s almost cheating how easy halter breaking is when the foals are basically volunteering for the job. 🐴

All of our 2025 foals are now sold—a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us and given these babies such wonderful future homes. We couldn’t be more excited to watch them grow and shine! 💛

✨ Color Test Results Are In! ✨
Our double registered (AQHA & APHA) 2025 Dunskin filly YB SPARKD BY PICASSO whom we call Dior just got her AQHA color panel back!

📋 Results:
• Ee Aa – Carries one black and one red gene, and one agouti gene (can produce both bay and black-based foals).
• N/Cr – One cream gene (responsible for her golden dunskin color).
• D/D – Homozygous dun! Every foal she produces will inherit the dun gene.
• N/SW1 – Splash White 1 carrier for flashy face and leg markings.
• N/W20 – Dominant White 20 carrier for even more chrome potential.

As Dior sheds out, her golden dunskin coat and sharp black points are shining through. She’s not just a pretty face, she’s smart, willing, and loves her halter work almost as much as the attention she gets. We’re thrilled to keep her back as a future broodmare to carry on the dun factor and all that potential flashy chrome.

The 2025 foals are at that stage where they keep us busy and laughing.We’ve added some new video updates, and it’s clear they’re growing fast. Their coats are starting to roan out, their frames are filling in, and their personalities are in full swing.

They’ve become a lively bunch chasing each other around, bothering their mamas, and investigating anything they can get their noses on. It’s fun to see them so alert and aware, taking in the world one new thing at a time.

We’ll be posting more updates as they continue to mature, and we’re looking forward to seeing how each one unfolds. Only 3 foals left available so please reach out if interested!

Meet the Mares: JT Mandy Hancock “Mandy” 2014 AQHA Blue Roan Mare • 5-Panel Negative

Mandy has quietly become one of our most trusted mares at Yellow Bank Ranch. She’s the kind you don’t have to second guess. We don’t ride often, but when pasture moves come around, Mandy’s our first pick. She’ll carry you ba****ck in a halter like it’s just another day. No drama, no tuning—just a solid mare that knows her job and does it well.

Her sire side is rooted in working ranch stock—practical, dependable horses known for their durability and solid minds. While not heavy on paper, these horses were built for real-world use and passed those same qualities to Mandy.

On her maternal side, Mandy brings proven power. She’s a granddaughter of Zippo Blue Pine, a World Show top-ten halter stallion, and a great-granddaughter of Zippo Pat Bars—a AAA-rated racehorse and AQHA & NSBA Hall of Fame inductee. Her pedigree also ties to Three Bars, Poco Pine, and Poco Bueno—legendary sires known for producing well-balanced, versatile, and long-lasting horses.

Her foals carry that same level-headed nature and trainability—easy to start, easy to handle, and always willing. Several have already hit the roping pen, trails, or the barrel pen, showing off the kind of all-around ability and heart we breed for.

We’re proud to have her as part of the Yellow Bank Ranch mare band and look forward to every foal she raises. She is due for a late foal in August so stay tuned for that!

Memorial Day always carries a sense of reflection and this year, it brought something extra special.

This morning, we welcomed a stunning red roan filly with a little chrome out of My Roan Sweet Roan “Nali” and by Dirks Blue Lexus “Jackson.”

This cross has proven itself time and time again, and this filly is no exception, built right, calm-minded, and stamped with that signature roan color. Nali brings a kind, steady temperament backed by strong Western Pleasure lines, while Jackson adds substance, athleticism, and that classic ranch-horse sensibility we strive to preserve.

Her full siblings have gone on to be solid ranch partners, easygoing trail horses, and performance prospects—and we expect nothing less from this one.

This filly has all the right pieces, and we’re excited to watch her unfold. She’ll be available this fall—but for now, we’re soaking in the joy of new life on a day set aside for remembrance.

Our AQHA/APHA red dun splash mare, Vera, delivered a stunning dunskin filly with two blue eyes, and we’re completely in love. Sired by Dakota Duns Quarter Horses Picassos Dude, a smoky grulla sabino AQHA/APHA stallion, 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙, 7-𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙡 𝙉/𝙉 𝙗𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙜𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙯𝙮𝙜𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙙𝙪𝙣.

She’s got the chrome, the color, and the presence we hoped for—and she’s exactly the kind of filly we want to raise and retain here at Yellow Bank Ranch.

We’ll be doing color testing soon to see if she carries splash or sabino, but either way, she’s already turning heads and showing off a bold, curious personality.

Vera is doing great as a third-time mom, and this filly has settled in like she’s been here all along. We’re so excited to watch her grow into the next generation of our program.

Meet the Stallion: Dirks Blue Lexus “Jackson” 2015 AQHA Blue Roan Stallion

While this may be his official introduction, Jackson has been the backbone of our breeding program here at Yellow Bank Ranch. A 2015 AQHA blue roan stallion, Jackson is homozygous roan and bringing color, consistency, and confidence to every foal crop.

He’s the kind of stallion that leaves his mark—literally and figuratively. A great-grandson of Hancocks Blue Boy, Jackson carries forward the legacy of one of the most influential sires—known for producing foals with strong bone, good minds, and ranch-ready structure. His sire line also includes Mr Roan Hancock and Salty Roan, ROM sires who produced rodeo standouts, including multiple steer roping horses of the year. At the foundation is Blue Valentine, one of the most respected ranch horse sires of all time, ranked among Western Horseman’s Top 10 Ranch Bloodlines. Additional strength comes from Clown Hancock (Superior Performance) and Pawnee Eagle (ROM Halter, 110 points).

On the bottom side, Jackson traces to Bar Beaus Watch, a halter winner and sire of working-bred horses. Tyrees Watch produced over 500 AQHA performance points, with multiple ROM and Superior earners. Also in his maternal line are Beau Bar Mujer (ROM Performance) and Watch Joe Jack—an AQHA Champion with over 400 halter and performance points, Superior titles in both Halter and Western Pleasure, and World Show qualifications.

Jackson consistently sires foals with substance, cow sense, and that signature roan appeal. His offspring are known for their athleticism, strong hips, and balanced frames—making them just as reliable in the branding pen as they are on the trail.
