Three Nights of Lights at the Jenison Meacham Memorial Arts Center and Museum begins tomorrow, December 16 and continues December 17 and 18 from 5-8 p.m. each evening! Beautiful and uniquely decorated trees will be featured inside the museum, outdoor lighting and decorations will be on display throughout the grounds and there will be a live Nativity. Take a wagon ride through the decorated grounds. We have 20 entries to see in the museum! Be sure to enjoy the refreshments and drinks!

When horses get bored due to long periods of confinement, such as a long Iowa winter, they will often start chewing wood. It is usually pretty obvious in an old barn where the horses spent the most time in the winter. You can see the signs in this trough and the stall boards of a 1916 round barn in Bremer County.

New to our library, PUZZLES! Puzzles are joining our cake pans in our library of things located in our nonfiction section. We have puzzles of all shape sizes, shape counts, and difficulties. Puzzles are available for a 1 week check out. Not sure you can finish it in that time? Not a problem, simply renew for another week.

Trees for teachers was a HUGE success last year!! We were able to donate thousands of dollars worth of items.
The Sugarpie tree is up and has some tags on it and more will be added daily. We have requests for alot of stuff coming in. Right now our school has a huge demand for waterproof snow gloves! Mostly smaller sizes but we will take any we can get!! Please consider donating to our teachers and to our students in need!
Be on the look out soon for other trees around town!

The Iowa Plowing Association state match will take place at the Prairie Homestead Antique Power Show and Market again this year! Save the date for Belmond Area Arts Council's 2019 Three Nights of Lights event December 20-22 at the Jenison Meacham Memorial Arts Center! The event will run from 5-8 p.m. each evening and will feature uniquely decorated trees in the Arts Center, a live Nativity in the barn, a wagon ride through the Arts Farm to see the decorations, music and refreshments. Free will offerings accepted. The Arts Center is located at 1179 Taylor Avenue, just north of Belmond.

Don't forget work night tomorrow night! Supper will be cracker barrel meatloaf, hot chicken salad, cold chicken salad, corn and smorgasbord of desserts.

Florence is just one of many towns that used to dot Wright County! The scale from the Florence elevator now resides at the Jenison Meacham Memorial Arts Center and Farm, 1179 Taylor Avenue, just north of Belmond. The farm is owned by the Belmond Area Arts Council.
EXCITING NEWS!!! The machine shed and the museum are getting filled... Ray's Rug Weaving Loom and Becky and her Treadle Sewing Machine. The Prairie Quilter's will have their hand quilting frame upstairs in the museum. Quilted and sewn items, jewlery, bags, Handmade Soaps from Windy Ridge Soap Company, CoCoRoo Lotion, and face painting all will be in the museum.
Check out the machine shed...banks made from old post office box doors, metal benches, signs and yard art, Belmond Area Youth Robotics, Liquid Tactics, up - cycled furniture, Bags/Purses from Wild Purple Stitch, talk to Barry about getting your family memories off of old tapes and onto dvds and challenge your friends to a game of checkers!
Then go visit the blacksmiths at the blacksmith shop!
