Farming definitely took a lot of teamwork back then.

With a price of $4,900, the Ford 6000 boasted 66.9-PTO horsepower from a 4.0L diesel engine, or a 3.7L gasoline engine. The transmission was a 10-speed full powershift. Other standard features were an independent PTO, and closed center hydraulics.

The 6000 was intended to make a big mark on the farm tractor market. However, due to a number of problems, the tractors were recalled and sales suffered because of this. Once all issues were fixed, they were excellent tractors. The original units were red/gray, with the reworked tractors coming out blue/gray.

Barns and Farms along the historic Jefferson Highway (Part 3): This restored barn is located along the route in Sheffield Iowa. The barn has been converted into a business called “Reborn In a Barn”. The barn is huge and dates back to 1940s . The business has antiques, up cycled items, garage sale type items and consignments. It is open only on a specific schedule but is certainly worth a stop when traveling the Jefferson Highway route.
