MEATBIRDS

This is our first year raising meat chickens on our homestead. We chose Cornish Cross since we can harvest meat quicker. In a few short weeks the chicks will reach their target weight then we can have a deep freezer stocked with meat that’s tastier & healthier than anything purchased at a grocery store. Plus raising our own birds allows us to control how our birds are raised unlike the inhumane practices in our food-production system

These birds will stay in the brooder for a few days then be put out into the chicken tractor which will allow them to be moved everyday offering fresh grass (also to help till our garden) encouraging them to forage vs. sit at the feeder all day.
