A short rain brought a new visitor to the yard last night! 🌧️🌵Spotted this Long-jawed Longhorn Beetle (Dendrobias mandibularis) hanging out on my prickly pear cactus pad—never seen one before! Their signature orange-and-black pattern and pincer jaws are incredible. Turns out they’re native to southern Arizona and love feeding on cactus sap after a rain.

Recent Horned lizard photo shoot. They can eat thousands of ants in a single day…I need more of these on my property.
