From Africa to America, Somerset West to Southern hospitality yet tonight I’m sipping on a Glass of Bordeaux. 🇺🇸🇿🇦
It’s our second Thanksgiving here in the USA, and we’re beyond grateful for the kindness and the new chapters. But, I will always heart that yearns for Africa, for home, for family, for friends, and for the unmistakable spirit of the South African table.
Tonight, we are pouring the 2014 Clos Beauregard Pomerol. It’s an exercise in contrast and complexity—much like moving continents.
This wine is the definition of “time and place.” A decade in the bottle have smoothed its once-grippy tannins, replacing youthful fruit with profound, contemplative notes of truffle, leather, and old cedar. It demands your attention, reminding you that the greatest beauty often lie in patience and evolution.
This old world Merlot mastery are the perfect mirror for our journey: Structured, resilient, and growing richer with every passing year. It also happens to be the perfect partner for our Roast Leg of Lamb dinner (we haven’t yet taken on the Turkey challenge)
Cheers to those who are here, those who are far, and to all who are celebrating Thanksgiving today
