For some of you wondering what the difference is between store bought honey and raw honey that you find from your local beekeeper..here is some food for thought...
Turns out, some of the honey that you’ll find on grocery store shelves is not actually real honey. Absurd, I know but hear us out...
It’s a product of an unethical yet widespread practice called “honey laundering.” Real honey contains pollen, while store bought honey has the pollen removed and is heated to a certain point where it looses many of its health benefits.
Honey is typically extracted from the comb, either squeezed or spun in a machine called an extractor. In raw honey nothing else is done other than using a strainer to pull out any bees that got stuck in the honey or any other debris that fell in while harvesting. The store honey that you find on store shelves, the liquid honey is often heated and blended with processed sweeteners. Some love it, some don’t.
ABOUT 70% or more of liquid honey is fraudulent, so remember the next time you buy honey from your local store, there’s a very good chance that you aren’t getting all the benefits you normally would get with raw honey that was freshly harvested by your local bee keeper. The store bought honey is more than likely not the real deal.
