Crown Cavalo Ritz Carlton apparently took my doubts personally! 😂👑
On September 23, Ritz was collected, and his semen was placed in a longer-term extender in case Barbie needed another 48 hours to ovulate—hopefully saving us from having to collect him again.
By Friday, September 25, Parnell Ranch Miss Barbie Doll still hadn’t ovulated, so she received a shot to encourage ovulation within the next 48 hours and came home that day. It looks like she finally ovulated on Sunday, September 27.
After all that waiting, I honestly had very little hope that this breeding would take. So imagine my surprise when today’s ultrasound showed… TWINS! 😳
Apparently, Barbie ovulated two follicles, and the semen I had all but counted out managed to get the job done—twice! 🤦🏻♂️😂
A huge shout-out to Killian Rogue Thorne at Allied Equine for taking such wonderful care of Barbie and giving her the spa treatment she needed on her pregnancy journey! Having people who care for our mares with that kind of attention and love means everything. Barbie clearly appreciated the VIP treatment! 🛁💕
And Dr. King at Millbrook Equine knew the assignment! She performed the twin reduction so quickly there wasn’t even time to blink. We’re so grateful for the village we have found and who continues to help us bring these little Drum Horse dreams to life. ❤️
Now we’re keeping everything crossed for one healthy, progressing pregnancy and a beautiful Barbie × Ritz baby! Apparently, nobody told these two I wasn’t feeling optimistic! 🤞🐴👑
