Llama round 2: There’s a new llama in town - meet Buster. Completely different personality than Llama 1, fingers crossed this one is a guardian.

Llamas response when I asked him how coyotes killed a lamb 100 yards from my house and he was in the pasture with them. He plead the fifth but he’s been put on notice that he’ll be replaced if he doesn’t up his guardian game.

Trying to set irrigation dams with 40-70 mph winds is the equivalent of brushing your teeth while eating Oreos. 😂. Took way longer than it should have and there were moments I thought the dam and I would end up in the next county, but it got done.

“There’s a Llama in My Lawn”….if I ever write a children’s book it may just be about llama 😂 (or a traveling chicken - it’s a tough call). Seriously I can’t get him back in with the sheep. He evidently likes the taste of dandelions.

This pretty much sums up the day - animals where they aren’t supposed to be. The pigs were by far the easiest to deal with….and they were having a swell time.

Llama is starting to remind me of an annoying little brother. All she wants is a little peace to nurse her baby. And llama is all up in her face 😂. In reality, she’s a young, skiddish mom that was freaked out about her lamb trying to nurse. She wouldn’t stand still at all to let her nurse, but she stood quite nicely if I was in the pen with her. I’ll do this a few more times tomorrow and hope she’s settled into motherhood..

After the tragic Apollo 1 fire in 1967, investigators discovered how dangerous certain synthetic materials could be when exposed to high heat. The disaster sparked major safety changes including the introduction of fire resistant wool materials in spacecraft missions.

Decades later, similar lessons emerged in military uniforms and outdoor gear: some synthetics can ignite easily, melt, or fuse to the skin. While natural fibers like wool behave very differently in extreme heat.

From space missions to outdoor adventures, the story of “space-age synthetics” reveals why natural fibers still matter.

49 is a young ewe with twins. I’ve been watching them closely and one may end up becoming a bottle baby because mom just doesn’t seem to have quite enough to feed 2. But I was impressed with little 49s ability to grab a drink. Her brother (no green tag) in the foreground is evidently standing guard.
