Well there’s always good news and bad news in life and business.

Bad News: Our gulf coast region is currently under watch for an oncoming hurricane, with all models showing we are smack dab in the middle. Part of our duties as off bottom oyster farmers is having a hurricane preparedness plan. So cross your fingers and pray with us the little one ride out the storm and make it!

Good News: Just got word the oyster boat has her new motor mounted and ready to go, so we’ll be able to get out the farm quicker and more efficiently! Big thanks to (First Choice Marine) for making this happen!

Made a quick trip to the farm this morning. This Crop started as an R4, and is quickly progressing!

One of the big things we focus on, on the farm is quality habitat. Oysters are filter feeders and need a good constant flow of water to grow. The bag on the left was cleaned Sunday the 27th and looked like the bag on the right. It’s crazy how fast algae and barnacles form!

Had to go put eyes on the kiddos today to see how they were growing! Crazy this is where an Oyster starts, and in 6-8 short months they could be sitting on your table!
