Do you know what you’re actually paying in hidden mark up fees on the app when you order with a big name grocery delivery service?
This was an order done with a big name grocery delivery service recently. The picture on the left is the app receipt, which was sent to the customer after delivery. This digital receipt reflects the prices on the app for the items she ordered. The total before she tipped was $175.37.
The picture on the right shows the register receipt from the grocery store for the items she ordered. That total was $125.12.
This is a difference of $50.25. (Almost all of this mark up went to the big name service and not to the shopper), which works out to be around a 40% markup on the grocery store prices. The customer also tipped $16.21 on top, which means she paid $191.58 for someone to shop and deliver her groceries.
The big name delivery service might not charge you a shopping and delivery fee, but they are charging you a membership fee and a 40% markup on store items hiding them in the price of the items in the app that you put into your cart.
When you use Back to Basics delivery you always get instore prices, BOGOs, sales, discounts, etc. No markups ever!! You get the actual store receipt to prove you paid store prices. You don’t pay a membership fee. My shopping and delivery fee ranges from $10-$15 except for Club stores which is a 15% fee. Not 40% like the big name service. Plus when you choose your gratuity amount, you are saving more money because you’re tipping in the actual store receipt and not the inflated app receipt.
When you shop with me, you are supporting a local business owner and not a large corporate machine. You are supporting someone who puts their money back into the local economy because I also shop local.
It’s a win -win for all of us!! I save you money, you support local...and you have a dedicated personal shopper that shops for you like it should be done.
