Chanterelle season is kicking!
My favorite way to decompress after a long work day. We visited the “holy grail” last night, the first place I ever had a 50lb day. We started naming our honey holes so we could speak freely without giving away the location. Maybe tonight I’ll hit the “pumpkin patch”.
No Unity Market today it was canceled. We are at The Market at Pepper Place this Saturday with all the mushrooms and all the magic. Come on down and see us there Saturday 7-12
People often ask when chanterelles will be popping. Tracking the rain is my number one tool for knowing when they are fruiting. But understanding ground moisture is more complex in mid summer the temps are so high you need decent rain every few day or the soil will become to dry for fruiting bodies to stay healthy. This being said I always look at the prior months temps/rainfall for the gauging the best picture of when chanterelles will be found in the woods. Considering our current conditions everything is right for central Alabama chanterelles to start pinning and fruiting and if the rain continues June could show bumper harvests. I am thinking about guiding a couple chanterelle forays if anyone is interested please let me know and I will announce them here. Happy hunting and you’re welcome!
