Hi friends. Garrett and I are currently out of town for the next 2 weeks. However, we will be at Backyard Market in Black Forest tomorrow between 9 & 1. Chelsea will be there to assist you. Our freezers still have plenty of product. We have beef, pork, & Alaskan fish.

We have 1.5 beef shares and 3.5 heritage pig shares available for September. Our animals are pasture raised non-gmo & no antibiotics.

We are also taking deposits on Thanksgiving turkeys.

Today will be our last Colorado Springs Sunday Market for a few weeks. Take the time today to come stock your freezers with our wonderful beef, pork, seafood, pasta and eggs.

Knowing your animals are not afraid of people because they have been treated with kindness is the best reward. Ranching doesn't have to be loud. In fact in should be calm, cool, collected and low stress.

Good morning!

I dont know about you but I know I am really looking forward to some cooler weather.

A couple quick updates.

We are down to 3 beef for September. If you are interested please get them reserved ASAP before we really start advertising them. 8.60 a lb on the hang weight and processing is included. Delivery on these will be the 1st week of October more than likely.

I am going out if town for almost 3 weeks. If you want anything outside of what can be found at the Backyard Farm Shop or available on Saturdays at the Backyard Market in Black Forest please get your order into me ASAP. Orders will be filled on August 20th and unavailable until September 4.

Thanksgiving turkeys will be up on the website starting tonight. $25 reserves your bird. Birds will be processed the week of Thanksgiving.

Water Buffalo

We are not sure we are going to continue with the water buffalo. The risk is pretty high with their bad attitudes and the drought. They do require ponds to stay happy and healthy. If we do not get the water to get our ponds refilled we will have to let them go. Stay tuned for more information.

2027 beef and hog pricing

Unfortunately I do believe we are going to have to raise prices next year. Diesel has been sitting around $5 most of the year. Alfalfa has doubled in price, a Semi is costing me almost $6800.... calf prices went up again this year as well by almost $500 per head. We will keep watching the market but want to put this on everyone's radar. Once prices come down on feed, alfalfa, and calves we will follow that I promise.

Hogs will stay close to the same

Come check us out at the Colorado Springs Sunday Market today from 9-2. We have most of a full beef, some great pork, alaskan fish, quail and chicken eggs, and homemade pasta and ravioli from Italian Food Emporium. We cant wait to fill your family kitchen with wonderful healthy food.

Everyone,

If you plan on joining us this weekend at Backyard Market in Black Forest the market opens at 8. I do not know how late the market will run. Please note, the parade will be taking place as well as the black forest festival.
I have a fresh beef in the freezer, alaskan fish and prawns, a beautiful hog and some snack sticks for you to enjoy while you watch the parade. If you want to buy and then go enjoy the festival we are happy to hold your order in our freezers for you after you purchase.

We cant wait to see you saturday!

Meal idea! I wish I had a white plate but it is what it is. This will be using our new spotted prawns instead of regular shrimp and we used our garlic basil handmade pasta. The prawns were so sweet and delicious. We will be launching these this week on our website!

Come check us out at the Colorado Springs Sunday Market today from 9-2. We have handmade pasta and ravioli, pasture raised eggs, heritage pasture raised pork, grass fed and grain finished beef, and a little bit of water buffalo. Its going to be a beautiful day at the market.

There are so many other vendors as well. Sourdough, fruits and veggies, lemonade, mushrooms, dog treats, clothing, candles, and lots of food options.

They say its super hot but we welcomed our first 10 turkeys! We are so excited to offer heritage silver slate turkeys and heritage bronze breasted birds. Pasture raised, fed corn and soy free feed. We are so excited to offer high quality meat and these will be raised with the same love and care that we give our other livestock. They will spend a few days in the coop and run learning this is home and then be on their way into pastures.

$11 a lb processed and will be processed the week of thanksgiving. I'll get them posted on the website tonight. We will be offering meat chickens in 2027 as well as quail eggs.

We have a half beef available! Will be ready at the end of the month or first week of August. Grass fed, grain finished, and vacuum sealed. No hormones or antibiotics. This beef was a big one and has some fantastic marbling. Price is $3507.20 and has the following cuts. Works out to approx $13 a lb finished.
