Watching this kiddo nap. And scrolling through memories on Facebook...
Two years ago today, piper and I were in Ohio. We were lucky enough to get a flight out of a neighboring town. Hurricane Helene had just bulldozed our community. Scott stayed behind to help where he could all while keeping our animals and home safe. I hate seeing videos/photos from it all. It’s triggering enough when we still get a bad storm. Or hear helicopters fly over. Or even a fire truck or ambulance. Folks ask if we’ve watched the documentary yet. No. Absolutely not. Why would we ? We f*cking lived through it. We saw it all first hand. Everyone copes differently, I know. Some like to look back and remember it all. Just not my cup of tea. Thankfully, a year later we have a new memory to think about.
A year ago today, piper, Scott, and myself were all in Ohio. We were patiently awaiting the birth of Boone. Of course, in Brians’ fashion, he came a week late. So to pass time we ventured around Yellow Springs, Ohio. Hiking, Columbus Zoo, museums, libraries, Legos, all the things to help pass time. And here we are, a year later. Just 4 days away from Boones first birthday. It’s wild how much things can change.
So two years after that storm- we’re back to thriving. We’ve got cabins on our property that allow folks to rent out and enjoy the peace and quiet. We’ve got our two ponies - Daisy and Merry. Our six goats - Cherokee, Annie, Isla, Clementine, Mona, and Charlotte. 30+ chickens (and our cute egg shack that folks can get fresh eggs from), and our 3 sweet ducks. And of course - Milo and Poppi.
Thanks everyone for keeping up with us and following along ! Stay tuned for more fun updates on what’s coming to Halfback Hollar & Farm !
