🌿2 of the biggest lessons farming has taught me are:
1. Control is an illusion~ In my former non-farming life, careful planning & ex*****on usually led to the results I expected. Farming? Not so much 🤪. You can prepare, plan, nurture, and hope but Mother Nature still has the final say. And if I really had control, trust me…our lavender would bloom all year long 😁.

2. Surprises bring joy~ Our earliest-blooming English lavender was harvested 3 months ago, and now we’re in September with a sweet little mini bloom. What can I say? I’m a simpleton. Give me a handful of unexpected lavender blossoms and I’m very happy.

Maybe that’s one of the gifts of farm life: learn to loosen your grip on the plan and appreciate the little surprises waiting to make your day beautiful. Here’s to wishing you more wonder and unexpected lavender joy ✨. See you Saturday, September 5th at Floyd Farmers Market 💜

🦚💜Since our Peahen Mama and her baby arrived at the farm, I’ve the privilege of witnessing the sweetest moments~ Mama gently nudging her baby along, patiently taking tiny wobble steps, teaching her little one to search for food, and following close behind as peachick baby explores the world with all the fearless energy 🤩 of a curious toddler. Every evening, they pause to watch the sunset over our lavender field, and when the day is done, Mama tucks her baby safely beneath her wing to sleep. It has reminded me of something so easy as we grow older: how much love, patience, protection, and devotion our moms have poured into us every single day. So often, we thank them on Mother’s Day but the truth is, 1 day could never fully measure all that a mother gives ✨.

This is your gentle reminder to thank your mom throughout the year- not just on Mother’s Day, but on ordinary days, too~ simply because you appreciate her love, her strength, her patience, and all the quiet ways she cares for the family every day. 🦋As a little girl growing up far away in a small town of Pacific, I thought Dolly Parton~ with her big glamorous hair, sparkling rhinestones, and bright smile was my real-life Barbie 🤩. As I grew older, I came to admire something even more beautiful: her courage to be herself. Long before “authenticity” was a trendy word, she lived it~ with grace, humor, kindness, generosity, and incredible business intelligence✨.

Dolly’s father was a farmer who planted seeds in the Tennessee soil. To me, Aunt Dolly was a farmer, too. She planted dreams. She planted in me the belief that humble beginnings don’t limit how far you go, and that anything is possible when you put in hard work, and have the courage to be yourself.

This time last year, I was at Dollywood celebrating my birthday. Today, those memories feel even more precious. Thank you Aunt Dolly, for the music, the inspiration of my first & only hair perm 😅, the rhinestones, and the dreams you planted in so many of us 🙏. I will always love you 😘✨.
