Had a great day competing at Bring'n Home the Bacon day 1! It was a beautiful day for some BBQ, and the judges liked what we turned in as much as we did!

Chicken 🍗- 4th
Ribs 🐷-3rd
Overall- Grand Champion

Home from Mn in May, and still reeling from an amazing day!

It was just Mom and I cooking today for team Sassy Smoke, and we had a BLAST! Here’s how we did:

Chicken- 3rd
Ribs- 4th
Overall- GC 🎉🎉🎉🍾🍾 (350.2744)

The scores were so close, but we would expect nothing less with this field of competitors.
Congratulations Deano- Big Ten Bones on RGC!!

Masters series had a stacked field as well today- Congrats Burnt Trees BBQ on GC and Smokin' Suckers BBQ on RGC!

Big thanks to Compart Family Farms for the additional $250 they contributed to the backyard GC purse and the competition meat pack!

What a fantastic weekend competing in Stanley, WI at the Smoke and Fire BBQ Contest.

Saturday marked 1 year of competing for Sassy Smoke BBQ! Our very first comp was this event last year. Dean Tinjum is always sure to put on a great contest, and it is a team favorite!

In a completely stacked field this is how we did:

13th place chicken- Table #900 🤪
3rd place Ribs- Woohoo!
6th place overall

Congratulations to Dawg's BBQ on another GC and chicken 180! And to Fender Bender BBQ on RGC!

This comp kicked off another busy BBQ season, and it’s sure to be a great one!

Late Post:

Team Sassy Smoke made the trip down to KC for the Backyard American Royal in KC, last weekend.

I was looking forward to taking this opportunity to try a couple new things, and shake some of the rust off that accumulated over the long MN winter.

We had a blast! It was so fun to see our BBQ friends and kick the 2026 season off.

We liked our turn ins, and James had the opportunity to cook the steak entry- and brought home our only ribbon of the weekend (9th steak)!

The results weren’t what we were looking for, but it was fun to celebrate all of our friends who heard their names called! Congratulations to Dawg's BBQ on their 180 chicken and GC!! Way to go, Wapatui Smokers on RGC!!

Life has been crazy, so I’m a little behind on posting, but… is this real life!?
Results are in for MN team of the year, and I couldn’t be more proud of all that we accomplished this year!

MN backyard BBQ teams are extremely talented and it’s a competitive field, so I never thought we would have been so successful. My goal was to have fun, and cook my heart out- which we did every cook!

Here are the final results!

Chicken- 1st 🥇
Ribs- 3rd 🥉
Overall- 2nd 🥈
