We received a generous gift of white and pink table grapevines. They are Marquis and Candace. We decided to move our wine grapes to the back vineyard block and we will be replacing them along the border of our market garden. I’m looking forward to seeing how these perform in this location. The space has a giant oak tree that gives afternoon shade in part of the rows. What do you do with table grapes? I’m excited to eat them fresh from the garden. Hopefully they make good jelly. Grape soda is definitely on my list of ideas. Frozen grapes are a delightful snack on a hot day. Cheers!

Planted 2 rows of Carman grapevines in the back vineyard block. The Carman vines were originally intended for our market garden but the rows get too much shade late in the afternoon. It’s a beautiful day today. Our pigs are weeding and doing soil management in our regenerative vineyard block next to our barn. We also planted more trees in our orchard. Lots of progress on our property. 2-3 more years before we have fruit to harvest for wine or selling in a farm stand. Cheers!

Planted a row of Norton in our barnyard regenerative vineyard block. We have a few more rows of Norton to plant. Our piggies are going to be working in between the rows of grapevines and fertilizing the soil. Our chickens will follow behind the piggies to scratch up their manure so it will breakdown quickly. Cheers from the heart of Oklahoma!

Our first row of muscadine grapevines has been trellised with a low wire for drip irrigation and a top wire for the muscadines to stretch out along. We planted the vines 16 feet apart so each vine can reach out 8 feet either direction down the top wire.

These plants are one year old and we are training them to reach the top wire by using a string for it to use to climb up. We still have multiple other rows to build trellises for and we need one more support added to our first row.

Muscadines grow quickly and we look forward to seeing how they perform.

We are also growing a rose at the end of the first row. It’s going to be a lovely addition to this muscadine vineyard block.

Blackberry Cabernet from Shakespeare Wine Company from Chickasha that I picked up after tasting it at May Daze in Blanchard. It’s so delicious! Cheers!

About the wine:
—WILDE—
BLACKBERRY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Our Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wilde inspired Blackberry Cabernet Sauvignon is much like the poet/playwright. Our WILDE is a dramatic red that provides an odiferous delight of blackberry with, much like Dorian Gray, a never ending cabernet finish! Never forgetting the vine from which it came!

First sunflower 🌻 starting to bloom in these 3 rows I planted off our small backyard. I decided not to thin this mass planting so we will probably end up with smaller blooms.

This massive sunflower bloom is stunning in the gray rainy sky. A bit of sunshine in the garden.
