This mornings harvest: lemon cucumbers, elderberries, our first pumpkin of the season, some sour gherkins, a few Armageddon peppers, borage, calendula and marigold flowers. Didn’t get as much in the ground as I wanted this year but at least we have some things ready for harvest

This weekend in the stillroom…

• Preserved some cherries into a Black Forest jam that set beautifully. And some old fashioned spiced cherries that taste amazing!
• I gathered herbs, flowers and seeds for teas, salves and dried bouquets
• The celosias are repotted.
• The dogs are exhausted from supervising.
• Next week, I’m hoping to start my first experimental stillroom dried plant bundles.

Do I need more plants? No
Do I have seedlings that desperately need to go into the ground? Yes
Is it too F@&$ing hot to be outside in the garden right now? Absolutely
Did that stop me from buying some sale plants? Absolutely not.
I picked up this $5 Armageddon hot pepper that I have no clue what I’m going to do with-maybe fermented hot HOT sauce?
And these beautiful Celosia-Dragon’s Breath and Intenz. I’m thinking dried flower art.
