The team returned south this weekend for Carolina International. Austin Skeens finished 6th in Modified A AND claimed High Point Thoroughbred on ex-steeplechaser What Gives. Jillian Dean and Kingcarra Cooley Diamond had a great second event together to finish 2nd in the Modified B division. Clare Brady on Rhythm and Blues took 2nd place in Training.

The cold wind and rain at Southern Pines Horse Trials didn’t stop CWF riders from having great runs this weekend. Austin Skeens piloted What Gives around the gelding’s first Preliminary event in the pouring rain to great success. Jillian Dean and Kingcarra Cooley Diamond completed their first event together, finishing 8th in the Modified. Clare Brady claimed 2nd in the Junior Training on Rhythm and Blues, finishing the event on their dressage score 💃 Gloria Huber and Namiro Star had an educational outing as they learn to know one another.
We’ll be back in just a few weeks for Carolina International. Fingers crossed for better weather next time around!
Clare Brady and Rhythm & Blues jumping to second place, the only rider in Junior Training to go double clear:

Onward now to Southern Pines Horse Trials, with riders from Novice to Preliminary.

Clare Brady and Rhythm and Blues rocked around the cross country in the sunshine yesterday at Southern 8ths. Misty rainy weather today was not conducive to video, stay tuned tomorrow! 🐴

Is the cold weather stealing your motivation? Do you and your horse need a little bit of fun and a change of pace?

Join us on February 5th at the brand new NOVA Equestrian Center - NEC in Aldie, VA for a fun-filled Pop-Up gymnastics clinic. If you haven't joined us at Champagne Wishes Farm before, my gymnastics exercises are a bit different from your regular grid clinics. Over the last 25 years, I have developed exercises for clinics conducted for indoor rings and designed to keep you and your horse sharp and ready for the Spring! Exercises include:
· Trot grids
· Canter exercises
· Turning questions
· Bounces
· Narrows
· Corners

A combination of some or all of these exercises is used to educate green horses, challenge competitive horses, and confirm the techniques and skills of advanced horses. The goal of the clinic is for both horse and rider to have fun, learn something new, and leave with a positive experience.

Sessions will be 1 hour and limited to 3 horses unless otherwise requested by riders.

The Clinic fee is $115.00 per horse/rider and includes the ring fee. Please bring Coggins and sign a release when you arrive.

To schedule please contact Paul Ebersole at [email protected]

I’m looking forward to seeing you all.

Paul

Kicked off 2020 in style with a successful weekend at Southern Pines Horse Trials with our sweet new shirts! If you’d like to order one, send us a message.
The back features a list of “Paul-isms:”

1. I can run faster than that.
2. Just *flaps hand nonchalantly* jump this one well.
3. Why can’t you always ride like that?
4. Row, and row again.
5. Dude, oh my God, no.
6. ALWAYS HAVE YOUR RUNNING GEAR!
7. THAT wasn’t my favorite (turn, jump, etc.) ever....
8. I’m going to pretend I didn’t see that.
9. Okay... do it again.
10. Where’s the tailgate?

Congratulations to Kelly Follain and Rhythm and Blues for completing their first American Eventing Championships! They had a lovely clear cross country yesterday and .2 time penalities today in the show jumping to wrap up a fun weekend. They also earned the High-Point Arabian Award for Beginner Novice. Clare Brady contested the Beginner Novice Under-14 division on Playing With Fire. They also had a great weekend, a few unlucky rails in the show jump but had a KILLER cross country round!

Look at this gorgeous XC course! This weekend Champagne Wishes Farm is hosting a Combinations Clinic. Using both solid obstacles and show jumping fences, the horse and rider will practice angles, turning lines, and narrows. Questions will also involve ditches and banks.

This clinic can be tailored to ANY skill level! Even if your horse has never done any angles or combinations before - he will learn to do them today! Groups will be sorted according to experience level. Please message us with horse and rider info as well as any special requests if you're interested. Thanks!

What a fabulous weekend for #teamCWF at the Virginia Horse Trials! With riders at every level from Beginner Novice to the FEI, it was a busy weekend for Paul. (He used and abused his golf cart privileges thoroughly.) Everyone had successful outings with several top finishes. A special shout out to Gloria Huber and Dancing Queen for a great debut at the CCI**-S!

Thanks Taylor Miller for the great photos of the team.

We had a successful weekend at Carolina International. Very proud of Austin Skeens, and Rocmaster, who finished clean and inside the time on cross country to win the Preliminary Rider division! Christie McKitrick and Lotte Lenya Q made the jump from 20th to 6th place with their clean and fast cross country round. Looking forward to the rest of the spring season with these rockstars (and their riders) 💫

We had a great week of fun in the sun, starting out with a couple of days at the beautiful Southern Eighths farm in Chesterfield, South Carolina. From there, Team CWF migrated to the Southern Pines Horse Trials at the Carolina Horse Park, with 12 horse and rider combinations competing from Beginner Novice to Preliminary. Everyone learned a lot and had a GREAT time!

A huge thank you goes to Colleen McKitrick, Austin Skeens, and Adara Boling for keeping the barn running while Paul and Christie were teaching and riding. And thanks as always to Heather Skeens and Myra McKitrick for putting together the various tailgates throughout the week.

And just like that, the fall eventing season is over. Team CWF sent the year out with a bang with this weekend at the Virginia Horse Trials claiming many top placings.

Congratulations to Colleen McKitrick who piloted her young horse Brego successfully around his first Training level! Also in the Training, Adara Boling on Artex and Tori Law on Now Trending both finished on their dressage scores with Tori claiming 5th.
Sara Easterwood and Forest Fact cruised around the Novice in style to finish 6th.
In the new Modified division, Christie McKitrick and Lotte Lenya Q finished in 2nd and Mackenzie Parks on Mojave Moon finished 9th. Austin Skeens and Rocmaster did not have the weekend they hoped for in the CCI* but will be back to fight again another day all the wiser.

All the divisions were hotly contested down to the very last phase. Congrats to all riders!

Thanks AS ALWAYS to the amazing pit crew who puts together the tasty meals and snacks that keep us running all weekend!!!! The McKitrick family and the Skeens family have the horse-show-tailgate thing all figured out!
