Miss Wells County, Audrey Breunig Visits 4-H Park Community Garden

Miss Wells County visited the 16 bed 4-H Park Community Garden located in the 4-H Park along the Spring Street entrance. Master Gardener President Sandy Shelly, Lisa Mann, Sally Day, and Joan Schauss welcomed Audrey and shared how the garden grew from a few beds last year to 16 beds, 3 water totes, and a garden shed.

Miss Wells County helped with the harvesting of bunching onions, zuccinni cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers. She enjoyed seeing the variety of each gardener’s vegetables including the bed of the French heirloom Prescott Fond Blanc mellons!

Master Gardeners and Friends and volunteers helped build, plant, and maintain the garden beds. The harvest will be shared at several local food pantry locations. A future project for the gardens is a compost system.

Contributers to the garden are Wells County Foundation, Purdue Extension, and Wells County Master Gardeners and Friends.

As I reflect on this past year, it’s hard to put into words what this experience has meant to me. What started as something I thought would simply be fun became one of the greatest blessings of my life. This crown gave me so much more than a title it gave me confidence, lifelong friendships, unforgettable memories, and a love for Wells County that will stay with me forever.

To everyone in Wells County, thank you for making this year so special. Whether you came to an event, stopped to say hello, cheered me on in a parade, or simply smiled as I walked by, you made me feel so loved and supported.

Thank you to the Miss Wells County Organization, our incredible sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who works behind the scenes. Your dedication makes this program possible, and I am so grateful for everything you’ve done. And to my family, thank you for standing beside me every step of the way. I couldn’t have done any of this without your love and support.

To our new queens, congratulations! Cherish every moment because this year will fly by, and it will be one you’ll never forget.

This may be the end of my reign, but Wells County will always hold a special place in my heart.

Wells County, thank you for an incredible year as your Queen. You made this year truly unforgettable, every person I met and every event I attended brought so much joy and excitement. I cherished every moment, each for its own special reason. Above all, my love for Wells County has grown tremendously. Thank you for welcoming me, supporting me, and allowing me to share this amazing journey with you. As I pass the crown on, I know Wells County is in wonderful hands with Audrey and Violet. They are kind, dedicated, and will be outstanding ambassadors. Thank you for a year I will always treasure.
