🌱 Rooted in Generations of Farming

Our family’s farming roots run deep, stretching back generations on both sides of our family. On the Weber side, Kelsey and her sister Morgan are the 6th generation of farmers, tracing their roots to Valentine and Magdelena Weber, who arrived in America in 1855 and eventually settled near Lively Grove, Illinois. The farm they settled on is recognized as an Illinois Centennial Farm.

These historic photos capture several generations of our family on the land they called home, offering a glimpse into the people and places that shaped our farming heritage. From family members pictured in the fields to the barn that still stands today, each photo holds a piece of the story we’re proud to carry forward. 💚

We’ve loved seeing Lively Grove Farms through the lens of so many talented photographers lately. 🤍 There’s something so special about seeing a place you know so well captured from a fresh perspective.

We’re excited to now offer the farm as a beautiful backdrop for portrait sessions, and we can’t wait to see all the magic created here.

Defense against the deer 🦌🍓

Our 2027 strawberry field is looking great so far! 🍓 We’re throwing everything we can at the deer this year in hopes of keeping them out of the strawberry field.

One of the new things we’re trying is repellent tape from Nite Guard. It’s an iridescent foil tape designed to deter daytime animal activity using light, movement, and noise. We have it posted throughout the field and move it around occasionally so the deer don’t get used to seeing it in the same spots.

So far, no deer tracks have been spotted in the field! 🤞🏼🦌

Stay tuned for more of the deer defenses we’re putting to the test this year! 🍓

The strawberries have been planted! We planted over 9,000 strawberries and we are determined to have a successful 2027 harvest!

We have new things we’re trying this year to help our strawberries grow strong & hopefully produce a higher yield as well as new ways to deter the deer. We’ll post more about that later.

What remains the same is our commitment to providing an organically grown, unaltered berry.

We often joke that half of farming is waiting on your crops to grow, but my how this past year has flown by! We love looking back on how much progress these blackberry vines have made. This new field of blackberries should be ready for picking next summer! But for now you can follow along to see what else is growing this off season. 🍓🫐🌱
