Did you know there are Elk in Arkansas? They live in the Ozark Mountains near the Buffalo National River. You can see them at dawn and dusk primarily across about 350,000 acres of land. They were native to that area, but by the 1840s there were none left due to the rise of settlers feeding their families. In the 1980s the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission worked with Colorado Parks and Wildlife to bring elk back to the area. It’s been successful and there are at-least 650+ elk that call the Ozark Mountains home.

The best place to get a glimpse is near Ponca, AR. There are a few areas to pull off the road and watch them. They are not very many but it’s a nice surprise when you visit the area!

Everywhere you look right now, there’s talk about inflation, rising prices, and how much harder it is to stick to a budget. And my favorite is when people say, “You can’t make it on one income.”

Except… that’s exactly what we do—with 4 kids! 🙌

Needles Highway 🏔️

Needles Highway in the Black Hills of South Dakota has been on our bucket list, and it did NOT disappoint! The towering granite formations, winding roads, tunnels, and breathtaking views made every mile worth it.

Definitely adding this one to the list of places we’d do again(and hopefully soon!) If you’re ever in South Dakota, put this drive on your bucket list.

Today was our Azure pickup! 📦

I’ve been able to cut out the brick-and-mortar grocery runs and instead stock up once a month on better-quality food for our family. It’s been such a game changer!

The kids are especially excited about the fresh plums grown right at Azure’s orchard! (And, I grabbed staple items and some fun things to try, too!)

The Black Hills 🖤⛰️

There’s just something about the Black Hills of South Dakota that makes you want to slow down and take it all in.

Driving the Needles Highway is an experience all on its own- towering granite formations that sparkle in the sun, winding roads, and views around every corner. And then, just when you think you have seen it all, Mt. Rushmore comes into view!

It is one of those drives you’ll remember long after the trip is over.

Sometimes you just need to slow down long enough to notice how beautiful the ordinary really is. 🤍

Wide open fields, wildflowers, lakes, and the sounds of nature… I’ll take this kind of view any day.

A little paint can change everything…

We’re slowly transforming this house, one room and one paintbrush at a time. It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do—taking something that feels tired and forgotten and giving it new life.

It’s a lot of work, especially when you’re doing it with 4 kids in tow, but I know it’s going to be worth it.

We don’t always need to tear down and build something new. Sometimes the best thing we can do is love an older back to life.

One wall at a time. One project at a time. One transformation in the making. ✨🏠✨

Most evenings lately have looked like this… paintbrushes, tired arms, teamwork, and a little bit at a time 🤍

It’s not always glamorous, but every coat of paint is bringing new life back into this old house.

Not every dream home has to be built from the ground up. Sometimes the most beautiful homes are the ones that are loved, restored, and given a second chance.

The work is slow, but it will be worth it. 🏡✨
