Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Gassan Jaffal, founder of Jassal Chocolates🍫

Long before launching his chocolate business, Gassan spent seven years working as a skydiving instructor, saving every step of the way to bring his vision to life. Along the journey, he trained with makers in Fiji and Hawaii, gained hands-on production experience in Brooklyn, and ultimately opened Jassal Chocolates in Warren, Rhode Island.

Born in Puerto Rico to Palestinian parents, Gassan draws inspiration from both identities and hopes to help strengthen Puerto Rico’s agricultural economy through cacao while sharing the island’s unique flavors with new audiences.

What began as a dream became a space where craft, care, and connection come together through chocolate.

¡Salud! to Hispanic Heritage Month ❤️

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re proud to spotlight Vonnie Velasquez, founder of Sana Kitchen.

For Vonnie, her Latino heritage, family, and the foods she grew up with are at the heart of everything she does. Food in her culture is how people gather, celebrate, care for one another, and stay connected to the generations before them.

After losing loved ones to illnesses including heart disease and diabetes, Vonnie began looking more closely at the everyday ingredients in the foods she loved. Rather than give up the flavors and traditions that shaped her, she set out to create another option.

Through Sana Kitchen’s Adobo, Sazón, and Sofrito, Vonnie honors the bold, familiar flavors of Latino cooking while creating products made with greater intention.

As Vonnie shares:
“Why should we have to choose between the flavors we love and making better choices for ourselves and our families?”

Rooted in family, heritage, wellness, and community, Sana Kitchen reflects Vonnie’s belief that food can carry both memory and care.

❤️ Food You Love That Loves You Back.

Relationship Status: Supported.

This National Couples Day, we’re raising a glass to Justin and Courtney, the couple behind Intermission B**r Company 🍻

As VCUarts Theatre alumni, they combined their creative backgrounds with a passion for homebrewing to build a brewery that’s all about community, creativity, and connection. What started as a homebrewing hobby grew into a unique brewery where their love for the arts and craft b**r takes center stage.

This past June, Intermission B**r Company was also a finalist in our Crafting Dreams B**r Bash, showcasing both their innovative brews and entrepreneurial spirit.

Just like great partnerships help businesses thrive, BTAD is proud to support entrepreneurs with the coaching, capital, and community they need to grow.

Because success is better when you don’t have to do it alone. ❤️
