Plating / Blocking / Protecting etc.
-
- A simple concept of covering the angles your teammates are exposed to that they can’t cover themselves.
-
- A common technique employed in opposing danger areas, hallways (long and local security), dead space etc.
-
- The key to success here is having the block pick up the angle first.
-
- Notice long security is offset to the rear in this pic, with local pushed further down the hall oriented along the apex of the door jam. This prevents the rifle of the long security being exposed into the open doorway prior to the block being in place.
-
- Our emphasis here is that the individual plating is actively pulling security, not simply focusing on lining their plates up to protect their buddy. Don’t have a meat shield mindset.
-
- Disclaimer - there will be times you’ll want the security pieces closer together. With local being door oriented, would there have been an opposing door or one offset enough to expose his back to, we’d work the problem differently.
