Tomato graduation day! Last year we transitioned to starting our 🍅 & 🌶️ in these mini soil blocks instead of cell trays. Not only is this technique space saving, the blocks fit exactly into the 2 inch soil blocks when they’re potted up. Soil blocking eliminates the need for additional pots because it IS the “pot”. Less waste, less plastic, easy to bottom water and healthier plants. What’s not to love about this technique?

Out with the old and in with the new. We purged our older seed stock and are starting fresh for 2026. Some seeds can be used if they’re more than a year old but the germination rate and viability decline. Some seeds such as those in the allium family should be used within the year. Storage affects seeds as well. Do you have trouble with seeds germinating? Check the date! It might be time to order new seeds

Just because the garlic has been harvested doesn’t mean we’re done with it yet. After curing for 3 weeks, now it has to be cleaned and trimmed. We sort it by bulb size and then separate what we’ll use for next years’ garlic.

It was a busy day on the farm. Our little bumblebee friend was going bonkers! This is why you should include flowers for pollinators. Our sweet potato experiment is underway and the new bed of tomatillos underplanted with squash is looking good. The Bon bon squash and watermelon are sizing up nicely.

It’s elderberry season! Elderberry has so many benefits and there are a lot of different ways you can use it. DO NOT consume fresh Elderberry. It has to be cooked in some way. We dehydrate ours and make them into a yummy tea. Elderberry has these health benefits.
