This post is long overdue, and while it is bittersweet, I feel it is important to be open and transparent with all of our followers, especially in light of the recent closure of the Twisted Tike Food Truck in Syracuse, Indiana.
But firstly, a HUGE thank you to everyone who stopped out at the Blueberry Festival and all the Blueberry volunteers that make the festival possible!!! The support we received was incredible, and I am truly grateful. We had another sell out year!
I also want to apologize to those who were surprised to see us there or had to reach out and ask if we were attending. I did not share our location, tent, or products this year, and I’d like to explain why.
So Why No Announcement?
For nearly five years, my business has faced ongoing challenges from a single Food Scientist at the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). This individual has repeatedly attempted to shut us down by issuing official-looking letters, demanding inspections, and even closing us temporarily—despite having no jurisdiction in Marshall County, where my licensed commercial kitchen operates.
At one point in 2023, our operations were restricted in Fulton County due to what was later revealed to be a “law” created internally by ISDH staff without proper authority. After months of research and appeals to multiple state offices, I confirmed through the Indiana Public Access Counselor that no such law legally existed. I then met with ISDH leadership, where I demonstrated that the Food Division had been creating unauthorized rules. While this allowed us to resume full operations, I was warned that I had “put a target on my back.”
The New Regulation
As of April 16, 2025, ISDH officially passed a new regulation, making freeze drying illegal under the Retail Food Establishment Codes. 410 IAC 7-26-217, requires a variance for specialized processing methods, including freeze drying.
While this rule was legally enacted, the same ISDH official who has targeted my business in the past is responsible for reviewing and approving these variances—raising serious concerns about fairness and accountability.
My Commitment
I have invested years of time and dedication into this business, and I am not willing to quietly go into the night. I am aware my page is being monitored by multiple Health Department alias.
BUT we are not over until the fat lady sings!
