YAAAY, BRIGIT! Bout dang time! No problems and calf was up and trying to nurse in about 15 min. Brigit took right to being a good mama!

Very impressed with Brigit’s udder. She is the first AI baby I had on the ground after going to AI school. Her mother has a decent udder and produces well, but it’s far from great. It just gets the job done, so seeing this udder on her daughter is awesome. Now if she would just release the hostage, (3 days overdue so far), we will see how she milks!

Two HEIFERS in the calving pen tonight. Merida’s (horns) due date isn’t until next Monday but she’s looking closer than Brigit whose due date is tomorrow. I’m already stressed about calving in three heifers this summer and training them, I sure hope they don’t calve on the SAME DAY!!! 🫪

Normal deliveries tomorrow! Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend. If you aren’t able to make it to the meeting place to pick up your milk, or won’t be in town, please let me know before 9 am Monday morning.

Rosie works on Rosie time. Her schedule is hers alone and funny enough nap time coincides with milking time. Most days I have to go out and wake her, then she casually moseys to the parlor. Today she was using a cow pie as a pillow. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Humans have drank raw milk for more than 10,000 years. There’s also historical evidence that infants were fed raw milk at least 8,000 years ago. Raw milk contributed greatly to the growth of civilization.

There’s a modern day objection about how “raw milk is dangerous” but the truth is we may not be here without it. Pasteurization was introduced because of poor farming practices that were leading to bacteria-filled milk not because there was an issue with the milk itself. Raw milk, produced following a low risk management plan, is a superfood!
