Reminder!

THE CLARK W. BOYER, SR. FARM
TO BE HONORED AT KING BARN DAIRY MOOSEUM
ON JULY 24, 2022

(July 24, 2022)
One of Montgomery County’s farms will be honored at Germantown’s King Barn Dairy MOOseum on Sunday afternoon, July 24. The Descendants of the Clark Wesley Boyer, Sr. family will gather at Germantown’s King Barn Dairy MOOseum to tell their family story of the Boyer farm which was the first farm on the left leaving Darnestown going west on Route #28. The MOOseum is located in the South Germantown Regional Park at 18028 Central Park Circle, off I-270 and Route 118.
Clark Boyer’s father, Charles Alvin Boyer bought this farm in 1923. This farm contained 187.451 acres. Clark was raised on this farm, took ownership in 1948, and raised two children on this farm. They shipped milk on this farm for 35 years from 1938 to 1973 and were members of the Maryland Virginia Milk Producers Association. They also grew corn, wheat, oats, barley, and hay, as well as vegetables, and poultry.
Horses were used on this farm well into the 1930s. Over the years the farm transitioned from workhorses to tractors. One of their first tractors was a Fordson. In 1960 they transitioned from shipping milk in ten-gallon cans to a 200-gallon stainless-steel bulk milk tank. They also transitioned from wheat threshing to harvesting by combines. Agricultural activities on the farm ended around the year 1990.
**The Boyer family members will be present at the Mooseum from 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM on July 24 at the King Barn Dairy Mooseum located in the center of the Soccerplex in the South Germantown Regional Park in Germantown. A farm family exhibit has been established for this special Sunday afternoon event, illustrating how the family and their farm have served the Montgomery County area. The farm is listed on the MOOseum’s unique dairy farm map, pinpointing more than 557 family dairy farms that once operated in the suburban county.
SAVE THE DATE! July 24th!
The Boyer family stories are a part of the MOOseum’s continuing Sunday series to showcase farms that contributed significantly to the county’s 240-year history. The MOOseum houses one of the area’s most complete and unusual dairy archives. It is housed in a 1930’s dairy barn, and its exhibits include a 1904 horse-drawn dairy wagon, a 1921 Model T milk truck, a model railroad, replicas of major dairy cattle found in Montgomery County, and samples of dairy equipment used in the county during the past 100 years. Come meet the Boyer Family Members and learn about the family and their dairy farm history.
Admission is free. Contributions are welcome.

Great article from
The Delmarva Farmer about the Mooseum🐄
