Why Golden Cuckoo Marans?
Their eggs are large and can be fun colors from light brown to almost red to purple, from heavy bloom, to lightly or heavily speckled! But wait theres more!
This particular bird is a recognized blend of Marans varieties in France.

The result is a purely bred auto-s*xing [not s*x linked] ability due to a genetic trait that comes with the barring gene. Males hatch showing the most white on their head making them easy to sort out!
They can go broody but aren't overly so, they are also very docile. In the 5 yrs we've been raising them I've not once had a Marans roo attack me. They lay nearly every day and start laying in March 🤗

10 cornish cross meatbirds to freezer made 6wks old on Sunday!

I don't have a scale but I'd say one bird might be about 3lbs
So all in all cost wise you're looking at $30 in 2 bags of feed and $30 for the 15 birds (account for loss)
I don't fool with feathers or skin makes things easier 🤗
Taste test tonight!

*Chicken gravey was Nice and tender only cooked for 2hrs had a late start but they did not disappoint!

We have 10 meat birds left of 15 they make 6 weeks in one more week but they look like they could grow to maybe 8weeks before giving a nice return. Time to increase the size an height of waterers to accommodate the growth of our grow outs.
Marans growing out too, watching them closely for our next best roo and next 10 best looking hens to use for the 2024 spring season every one else will be up for sale if they look well built enough to share. 🤗
Mixed booted bantam and more Marans in brooders and a handful of quail too!
We have baby Rex rabbits growing out as well multiple colors with some imperfections with the ear droopage, ill be looking to eliminate that.
And our male pig Thor broke into miss Dottie pig's pen and now we will be looking at another litter of mini pigs in 3 months 3weeks 3 days 🤦‍♀️

**Update she has hatched 8 out of 9 eggs
Broody hens rule! 👏🏻👏🏻

She done did it again 🥰
She's hatched 6 so far with like 3 eggs left.
Where as my batch of 6 hatched 3.
She's amazing!
Mini millie mixed bantam being built back up from one of our oldest hens on the mini farm, she's about 4yrs old now.

*Update two nights outside in the chicken tractor and the predators found imperfections in our housing. We lost 1 to what I believe is a snake and we've lost several more to what I think is stress, trying to keep the remaining 10 alive though all look rough.

Half way there, lil meaties made 3 weeks over the weekend.
They have a great temperament, calm and friendly
