Since I have been dragging you all along with my preg tox journey, I'm going to keep giving updates and maybe it can also help others learn as well.
Tonight I am down to two kids, a buck and a doe. The buck ( #3) is the third one I pulled and the doe ( #4) was the biggest and the last.
The other buck ( #1) and doe ( #2) kid were fine, they were all fine and doing well when I walked away. When I came back a couple hours later, I found a buck and a doe kid dead. Somehow, they must've fallen on each other and got tangled up and probably suffocated each other. I have to keep reminding myself, they are 14 days early. They don't have the greatest coordination and strength to get themselves out of a mess that lead to their demise. I'm lucky they were alive when this delivery started.
#3 buck kid is having trouble with his temperature. I've gotten him warmed up and fed so we will see what the night brings.
#4 doe kid is doing well, she's fiesty and really takes a bottle. Obviously, she has the best chance to survive.
Their mother is holding her own. Unfortunately, she has not cleaned, which is typical with all this mess. We are working on it very gently as she is still fragile. Thankfully, she is drinking and eating a little. She hates to be drenched and is a real fighter but I still need to force fluids. Her temp is normal, she's had anitibiotics, b comp, banamine, oxytocin and lutalyse.
Wish us luck!
