Angel embracing her inner unicorn. 🦄💕
Thank you to the team from Terraforma Church who spent your Sunday morning with us! We cleared out rocks from the paddocks, organized grooming supplies and worked on creating a very special space: “Lincoln’s Place”. You guys rocked it! (Pun intended). 🧲🐴💪🏻
We did it! He is safe. Meet Stormy! 🐴🖤
Auction intercept…. This horse is being dumped by his Amish owners because he is having a medical issue preventing him from pulling the cart long distances. We have an opportunity to get him before he has to endure the trauma of an auction. We could use your help. Initial rescue expenses (paying the Amish owner, immediate vet care, quarantine, vaccines, farrier, etc.) will be close to 2k.
Thank you! 💙
Some sunny news on this rainy day. Look at Miss Angel! I don’t think this could have gone any better. 💕
Happy Sunday! ☀️🐎
It’s been one week, and Chance and Noble are happy in their new home. 💙
That moment Spirit realized his buddies left without him. 🐎💨💨
How does Angel feel about water crossings? No problem! ✔️💖

It may be Friday, the 13th, but it’s a lucky day for Chance and Noble! Where they came from: Chance from a large seizure/surrender where over 40 animals were living in horrific conditions. Noble, after racing over 200 times, was put to work by the Amish and then dumped. They bonded at Nalani.
Today they went to their forever home, and the best part is they got to go together. We couldn’t ask for a better ending to this story. It just goes to show that when all seems hopeless, you never know what’s waiting around the corner. ❤️💫
If you’d like to help us save more horses like Chance and Noble, please consider making a donation. 🙏🏻

Perfectly beautiful day for a homeschool field trip. Chance was the star of the show today! ☀️🐴💙

Chance and Noble have become besties. 🐴💙🐴
Angel is learning about fly spray. This may not seem like a big deal, but anything and everything new is scary, and here she is standing in the barn allowing Michelle to spray her. After everything she’s been through, this is a horse who WANTS to trust. 💖
At an overcrowded auction, I chose Noble because when he went through the sale, people barely even looked up. The only thing I knew was that he was likely an Amish cart horse who had done his job, and I wanted his life to matter.
After digging further, it turns out there was so much more to this nondescript horse. He had a racing career with over 200 starts, 38 first place wins, and almost $300,000 in earnings. How sad is it that a horse with those stats was dumped and would have easily slipped away without anyone noticing?!
With proper care and nutrition, he has become healthy and stunningly beautiful….From unnoticeable to a head turner. 🖤🐴 🤩
Such a big day and one I’ve been waiting for. Angel got her feet trimmed! Who knows how long it’s been….it’s been hard to watch her trying to stand comfortably on feet that desperately need to be trimmed and tripping over herself. She is such a trooper, but she has to feel sooo much better. You can see how kind and patient our farrier is. We are all on team Angel! 💖🕊
Charlie trying to comfort Teddy. 🐾💕🐴
Beautiful morning with Teddy. X-rays Friday afternoon showed a huge abscess in his hoof. He was more comfortable on Saturday. Sunday/Monday he had a pretty severe colic case. We are grateful for wonderful vets and the many people who care about him and have been by his side. Hoping he gets to go out with his friends today. 💙
Poor Teddy….such a rough week but ending on a better note. Our excellent farrier and vet are working together to solve the puzzle. We are addressing a few issues, thankfully nothing serious, just painful! Thank you Victoria Solzbach and Dr. Porto…you both rock. 🐴❤️🩹
Hope and Mr. Scott, rescued from New Holland almost exactly one year apart…here they are “twinning” in their forever home. 🐴💗🐴
Angel is learning to trust. 😇💖
Tall glass of water on a hot day. 😍💙
Earth Day Field Trip! 🌎🐴
“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” ~ Elizabeth Andrew
Taking a quick break from horse photos to send a well-deserved Thank You! Nalani wouldn’t exist without a team of amazing volunteers. From our dedicated Board members those with feet on the ground no matter the weather, we couldn’t do what we do without the high level of commitment they bring. 🐴💖💪🏻
Nap time for Noble…he fell asleep while being groomed. He is one laid back horse living his best life. 🐴 😴
Happy Monday! Angel is loving her grooming sessions. Who knows when she was last brushed. It has to feel sooo good. You can hear Michelle’s dog, a rooster crowing, and barn noise. She is unphased. Love this mare. 💖
Who is this beautiful girl?! We finally removed the nasty halter she’s been wearing since the auction; the last remnant of her former life. Looking pretty in pink and ready for her fresh start. 🎀💖
I’m so excited to be writing this post. We waited for Angel to feel very settled before trying to “catch” her to make sure we didn’t set her back in any way. It’s been hard to be patient knowing how badly her feet need to be trimmed, and she so desperately needs grooming and basic care. We decided the time was right and worked with a professional trainer. It was a process, but within a few minutes of having a lead rope on her she started to trust. Incredible for a horse with such a cruel past. 💪🏻
The next step to finding her person is training. Thank you Michelle Motyl for seeing Angel’s potential and being willing to take her on.
Now the REAL transformation begins! With your help, we can give Angel a solid fresh start. 💕
It appears that Angel knew exactly what she was doing when she jumped into the paddock with AJ. ❤️🐴❤️🐴❤️
Chance & Noble…and Charlie, of course. 🐎🐎🐾
Mr. Scott! Here he is settled into his new home. You may recognize the other cute chestnut…It’s Hope! Nalani horses hit the jackpot twice with this family. 💙💜
It’s not easy to be uprooted from everything you’ve ever known at age 24. Tony has finally settled in and has become attached to his little herd. Our original plan was to put him up for adoption, but after getting to know him and seeing the time it took him to adjust, we have made the decision to give him sanctuary. He will live out his last years at Nalani. We have a sanctuary fund to provide for horses like Tony who would be served best by stability. All donations from this post will go to the sanctuary fund and help provide the medications, supplements and care he needs. We appreciate your help! 🐴💙
