So many of you have been prayer warriors, and overly generous to this fund for the NE fire victims-we wanted to update you. You’ve all made a huge impact.. thank you. Thank you. Over 1 million dollars has already been given directly to the victims- the organizers of this non profit have been diligent about accounting for every penny and getting your donations out quickly to those that need it. On a side note: there’s been lots of happy tears shed as they’ve read your notes, and given out checks to the recipients. Talk about a feel good story - if you’ve ever questioned humanity or the kindness in this world give us a call. We’ve seen it 1000 times over. The ranch family that wrote this letter was at ground zero where the Morrill fire started, they raced home from their town jobs trying to save their home and cattle, they lost everything but their home, and have been nursing calves and cows back to health everyday since the fire. They are still feeding hay to their cattle. Your kindness has been overwhelming to so many in our area and has been the bright spot in a very difficult time. Thanks for making a difference in our little area of Western NE.

This is some great information from the Nebraska Game and Parks.

The Nebraska Sandhills are the largest remaining intact temperate grassland on earth, covering over 12 million acres of prairie.

So… why should we care about grasslands?

• Properly managed livestock and wildlife grazing improve plant health and growth, cycle nutrients through manure, increase habitat diversity and reduce wildfire risk by grazing on flammable plant material.
• Unlike forests that store most carbon in wood and leaves, grasslands store roughly 90% of their carbon deep within the root systems and soil, making it more resilient to drought and wildfires.
• Converting Nebraska's native prairies to agricultural croplands not only reduces biodiversity but causes decades of stored carbon to be released.
• Nebraska’s grasslands are home to a wide variety of plants and animals, from waterfowl and sharp-tailed grouse, migratory birds traveling through the Central Flyway, reptiles and amphibians, thousands of pollinator species, to free-roaming bison herds, these lands are critical for conservation and local communities.

Did you miss these two??

This week they have been really getting a different personality. I think it’s because their hooves are finally healing. They lost their hooves but this week they are finally healing to where they don’t hurt as much.
