Honey bees are fascinating creatures 🐝

Did you know a honey bee makes 1/12 of a tsp of honey in her short lifetime of 6 weeks? That’s roughly 430 bees to make an 8oz jar of honey! Along with the tens of thousands of miles flown & hundreds of thousands of flowers visited collectively 🍯

We are grateful for these little beings & the sweetness they bring to this planet 💛

Our dahlias have been fashionably late to the party this year due to the extreme heat & drought ☀️

These dazzling white varieties were the first to arrive 🤍

1, 2, 5 - Karma Maarten Zwaan
3 - Kona
4 - Quiet Splendor

Even though the stems are still shorties, the blooms don’t disappoint! Dahlias thrive in late summer & fall so now that the evening temps are getting just a hair cooler, we’re hoping they start cranking out the blooms ✨

I’m a sucker for great greenery & eucalyptus is at the top of my list of faves 🌱

The eucalyptus on the farm was stunning the other evening after a rain shower so I had to capture some photos & share a little about each type we currently grow.

We have 3 types in various stages of growth & are looking to add another variety for 2027. All of our current stock was grown from seed over the past couple of years. In some parts of the world it grows like weeds, but here in the states, they can be finicky to start. Their combo of unique leaf shapes, scent & versatility is totally worth it IMO!

I love all of the varieties for different reasons - which one is your fave? 💚

Save your seeds, people! 🌼

Try to resist harvesting every beautiful bloom & let a few go to seed to reap the benefits of free, infinite blooms over & over & over…(and give the birdies something to snack on)

Sunnies are some of the easiest flowers to save seed from. I had a handful of these Greenburst sunflower seeds from a few years ago that I sowed this year & resisted the harvest. Now I have hundreds more seeds to grow hundreds more blooms 🌱

Sometimes you gotta let something go to let something else grow 💛

How can a bouquet of seasonal locally grown flowers add to your life? 🌸

Let me count the ways…

1. Boost feel good chemicals in the brain
2. Support local agriculture & small business -> strengthening your community
3. Avoid mystery chemical-laden flowers grown in a country far, far away
4. Celebrate the rhythm of the seasons
5. Opportunity to bring nature indoors
6. Create connection with a loved one
7. Access to special varieties of flowers harvested at their peak that won’t be found at a grocery store
8. Help increase pollinators to support the environment
9. Slow down, pause & appreciate the finiteness of a flower
10. Feel like you have your life together even when the house is a wreck
11. Etc etc etc

We are already planning for 2027 growing season - let us know what your favorite varieties are & we just might grow them for ya!
