Meet Poppy & Petunia, our new additions to the homestead. These sisters will be part of our breeding lines. Their momma had them a week ago. They are thriving thanks to a friend who stepped in for us and bottle fed as their momma (first time momma) wasn’t quite sure how to care for them. They are back on the homestead and getting a feel for the land. The kids are excited to help feed them everyday. We’ll see if they feel the same come a few weeks in 🤭

Our little garden is growing, this year we are freeze drying most of what is harvested. But it’s been fun to watch our little garden grow. The kids have been enjoying checking everyday for new growth as well as harvesting. They have been participating in this process from the start. Prepping the beds, planting the seeds, weeding and harvesting. Chat GPT came up with this slogan after I shared what we did on the homestead and it spoke to me. Pretty sure I am going to be sharing it more often.

The bunnies are getting so big! Can’t believe they are almost 5 weeks already! We believe to have 3 bucks and 3 does. But we will be verifying this week. They will be ready to be separated from momma next month. Crazy how fast that time comes.

We have some broody hens in the flock, so we are going to let them try and hatch out some chicks. We are day 5 in their gestation. Here in another week we will be “candling” to see how things are processing. Hopefully by letting them hatch out baby chicks it will allow them to break the broody habit and start laying again.
