David and Sara Whipple began Whipple Creek Farms after moving to the Shenandoah Valley in Fall 2010. Having grown up Brownsburg, VA David was looking for any way to permanently settle in the beautiful countryside. Sara soon warmed up to the peaceful rural lifestyle. Long story short, in April 2011 they launched Whipple Creek Farms in order to live off the land they love and serve all of those who wish they could. Currently we have our eggs in many different baskets (only figuratively though, we won't be getting our own chickens for a couple months). Among our adventures: AOL Farmer's Market: Each Thursday afternoon we hold a Farmer's Market at the America Online office in Washington D.C. Among other goods, we pick up farm-fresh dairy, produce, and baked goods from local producers and provide them to the 1700+ employees at AOL. Growing Hops: During the colonial era Virginia was considered the "hop capital" of the colonies. With the installation of several microbrewries in the area, the past few years have seen a revitalization of hops in Virginia. We aim to provide locally-grown, organic Cascade hops to breweries and homebrewers. Growing Produce: We are in the midst of planting fields of strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, peppers, pumpkins, lettuce, and corn. When in full production we will sell these fresh, canned, and baked goods at local Farmer's Markets.
