And last we are gonna flip those babies and you’ll see the fruits of your labor. Repeat the process to get your marks on the other side.

Then you’re gonna give those burgers that quarter turn to create those classic grill marks.

Down here on the Georgia coast we borrow what works. I grabbed time on the restaurant grill to show you why those steakhouse crosshatches stick, it's not the fancy equipment, it's timing. Same rules on your Weber, clean heat, lay it down and leave it. Y'all team crust or team pink center? First, we SEASON!

Not every battle happens in the kitchen… but this one sure reminded me I’m still human.

A little blood, a few stitches, and a hard lesson learned—but we keep moving. That’s the life. That’s the grind.

The Original Food Influencer 👩‍🍳 Before celebrity chefs… before cooking reels… before food TV became a whole universe—there was Julia Child.

This Saturday, PBS Food is running an all-day Julia Child marathon, and honestly, every cook should spend at least a little time watching the woman who made America fall in love with cooking.

No filters.
No fancy edits.
Just butter, courage, and a fearless attitude in the kitchen.

If you cook for a living, cook at home, or just love great food… there’s something to learn from her.

Question for the cooks out there:
What’s the one thing Julia Child taught you—directly or indirectly?

What say you?

🫘 Butter Beans: Butter beans also known as large lima beans — are a Southern favorite in the U.S. They’re often slow-cooked with ham or bacon for extra flavor. Creamy and mild, they’re a comfort-food staple at family dinners and potlucks.

🌽 Corn Pudding: Corn pudding is a sweet-and-savory casserole popular in the American South. Made with corn kernels, eggs, butter, and milk, it’s a common holiday side dish, especially at Thanksgiving tables.

🌭 Sausages: Sausages are enjoyed all across America, from breakfast links to smoked bratwurst at backyard BBQs. Different regions have their favorites — like Italian sausage in the Northeast and spicy Cajun sausage in Louisiana.

🍅 Tomatoes: Tomatoes are one of the most widely used ingredients in American cooking. From burgers and salads to pasta sauces and ketchup, they’re everywhere! Fun fact: Tomatoes were once thought to be poisonous in early American history before becoming a kitchen essential.
